  • Farming FS/HQ ore

Ok, I have pretty much pinned down what I need to do for leather padding, and I have a good many materials saved up, but I am kinda stumped on farming the ore/FS weapons. I was wondering if I could get some suggestions on where/what to hunt for the best results? I am a 50 ranger with pretty good gear, and I also can bot a 55 druid with average gear.

    Thanks!

Try Sol A. You shouldn't have any problems there at all - and long as you're careful not to get too swamped by greenies. You can pick up both Fine Steel weapons and High quality ore in varying sizes, You'll also find unrefined ore, which is worth holding onto (the large bricks especially) and using it for the HQ ore restock quest - which gets you plat and faction of varying sorts. Sell everything else to the gnome merchant and you'll do fine

Malathos Thriceborn - Wizard of Venril Sathir

I don't know how busy HHK is these days but when I got bored of SolA I sat in HHK and /ooc'ed 'buying FS weps 10pp each'

You could also try the 2 camps of Highland Kobolds in Stonebrunt Mountains. They drop Oriental fine steel weapons pretty frequently as well as etched iron and wicker armor that you can sell to cover your other expenses. No XP here though.

No one ever seems to hunt there so you don't have to fight for the camps. I always feel guilty taking a camp from lowbies who can get XP from something but that was never a problem in Stonebrunt.

There's a forge in the Kejek city nearby just bring your own water. (I just buy a couple of backpacks and then sell it to the merchant near the forge and buy it back as I need it) It's also only one zone from a bank or the PoK book in Gunthak.

Also there are lots of cats wandering nearby for you padding needs.

I concur with Sol A. I used it to get all my HQ ore. I didn't buy any HQ ore at all. A 50 ranger (buffed by the druid) should have no problem at all. Just don't get too many greenies.

There are some drops in there that you can sell or use yourself. Flame agate comes to mind. I would research the zone - I forgot what the specifi drops were - there are some good TS items there as well as the FS weapons and HQ ore.

Just get some weight reducing backpacks for all the ore and FS weapons you will get.

You will find that you will end up with a positive cash flow even accounting for the cost of the bars (I assume you are doing ornate chain) and the molds. And this is always a good thing.

          Good luck.

Being as I am also going to be hunting for FS items to make HQ Ore, I was thinking of going to Feerrott and killing the Tae Ewe Lizards just outside of CT. If you have no fear of multiple pulls and can AE, you can kill them rather easily at level 50 and they have a quick repop timer. I think it's about 12 minutes. You would have to do some testing for yourself to see how difficult some of the mobs might be, but from the highest level Lizard there to the lowest level Lizard, they all can drop FS.

I'm not sure of their frequency of FS drops compared to Sol A or other areas, but just the shear numbers should make up for infrequency of drops compared to the other areas if the drop rate is lower.

              Re: Leezards

I didnt find them to have very good drops. A pretty easy solo at about 47, but not great FS drops. Some cash and quest items, but nowhere near as good for ore/FS as in SolA.

I doubt anything in SolA will be useful for me to use directly, but what other tradeskill items where you referring to, Alar?

Thank you for the suggestion of SolA. After getting a few FS pieces from Feerrott, I decided to see if SolA would be any better. Turns out it's much better and the HQ Ore drops are exceptionally nice

Collected enough HQ Bits to make 76 attempts and got 23 Skillups on my first skillup run only cost me about 30 PP for all the Water/Molds needed. And with the PP I made from everything else I got off of the mobs, I still made over 300 PP from Feerrott and SolA very profitable night

::laughs:: After leaving the tip about the feerot, I cleared the whole top section of goblins- by the predator up past the Reckless Efreeti and back. How many HQ ore drops? 1. FS drops? 5. I was very dissapointed.

What have yall found is the best place in SolA? Is it down by the king and that area, or north by the efreeti?

Although its not good faction to do this, HHK guards (a guard, not named ones such as Captain Bosec) all drop FS Short Swords. There are enough of them that once you get the hang of running around to each the first ones killed will be respawning before you reach the last ones.
