  • Mistletoe Cutting Sickle Shopping List

Not long ago, I found a link (on the baking forum) that had a shopping list of everything you needed if you wanted to make a run of 100 MTPs. I was thinking of doing a run of mistletoe cutting sickles, and I was wondering if someone had something similar. I tried to make a couple (and failed of course) but I was buying some of the subcombines in the bazaar. I know I can make them cheaper, but how many of each would I need.

I figured I'd ask to see if someone had one first, before crunching the forumla to figure it out myself. I tried to search for something like that first, but came up empty.

The gems are the expensive part. I'm getting a few sapphires in Natimbi (more diamonds and blue diamonds for Artisan Seals though.) Is there a great zones for rubies though? Emeralds are relatively cheap, and not really a problem.

    Thanks much.

May your successes be plentiful, and your skill ups even more so.

You can expand the recipe and build the list from there, just like I've done below

Keep in mind this list has to assume NO FAILURES on any subcombine, since I can't predict what your run will be like. You WILL need more of each of these components, in many cases much more than what is stated below. I also didn't show subcombines for Celestial Essence, since there are so many ways to make it.

    Sheet Metal - 300
    Emerald - 100
    Curved Blade Mold - 100
    Mistletoe - 300
    Elven Wine - 300
    Ruby - 100
    Hilt Mold - 100
    Sapphire - 100
    Pommel Mold - 100
    Imbued Emerald - 300
    Jar of Acid - 300
Celestial Essence - 900 (subcombines not shown)

I have seen a fair number of Sapphires drop in my wanderings around Norrath but have not seen a lot of Rubies. Any suggestions on where one might go to fram these or are they just too rare a drop for that? I have seen them drop in Kunark - Seb, Chardok, etc - but never in quantity.

Just for the record... a couple of months ago I prepared enough materials to make 200 MCS combines. With max Int 355 and a skill level of 234 I had the following results: 5 skill ups which was sort of disappointing was hoping for more. Success rate was 72 final combines (I was also using a Geerlok which made my adjusted skill level at 245). My explanation for the poor success skill up rate is the high trivial of this item (335). I'm convinced doing the shadow scream gives faster skill ups because the trivial level is much lower.

Some observations along the way: although I didn't keep a precise record, however, it seemed there were many more hilt, pommel, curved blade, (subcombine) failures than there should of been with something that was trivial (+/-182). I was making the combines in batch sets of 7 or 8 and it wasn't uncommon to have 2 or more subcombine failures per run, which was sort of upsetting. I don't remember that sort of subcombine failure rate on other like items but maybe it was just the fact that I was failing items with expensive gemstones. I won't lose money, but it will take awhile to sell off all of these sickles. All in all, I can't decide which is worse farming shadow scream stuff of doing these.

For me the Shadowscream is worse, since at least the sickles sell above cost.
