  • If I had a Hammer

    Give GM smiths a break.

It would be great if a GM trophy hammer could serve the function of all specialty and cultural hammers.
Seems every other zone requires it's own hammer. I've got a bag in the bank with nothing but hammers. 8 or 9 of them.
With so many no drop quest items, empty bank slots grow fewer.

Just a little perk that might make sense.

    I'll vote for that !
I don't know if any of the other trades requires so many different necessary tools

Yup, I agree; I have 2 bags of tools and utensils for various skills as well (including a few geerloks, I admit).

Baking certainly has plenty, considering all the tins, pans, and cookie-cutters, etc, and the ultimate annoying tool of the 4-slot mixing bowl

Concepts like this have gotten mentioned before - the issue tends to be that that would mean creating a new, alternate recipe for every single combine that uses a {type} smithy/ing hammer, where the ingredients are changed to not have the old hammer, take the multi-type hammer, and (hopefully) return the multi-type hammer on success/failure. That's a lot of new recipes, which would probably be a good bit of work (as well as space, time, and any-big-change-adds-bugs issues).

I agree it would be handy, and not too unreasonable for the droppable easily acquirable hammers. There would inevitably be a lot of question over which hammers qualify, though (Tanaan? Velium? Shar Vahl? Combine?).

This is where I think the "toolbelt keyring" idea someone came up with in the tradeskill trophy discussion is bloody brilliant.

As someone who does all the tradeskills, here's what I have (keeping in mind that I really only *keep* the tools/utensils I use frequently, everything else I throw away because I'd rather make a new one than use up bank space)

          Smithing:
          Teir'dal hammer
          regular hammer
          geerlok hammer
          humming mallet
          file
          chisel
          Geerlok (sadly, no trophy yet)

          Baking:
          Nonstick pan
          pie tin
          muffin tin
          cake round

I finally scrapped my mixing bowl because I'd rather sell a deluxe toolbox out of my inventory, make a new mixing bowl, combine, trash the bowl and buy a new toolbox than waste that much space.

          I  fletching.

One eight slot container. No tools, except the planing tool that's lost on combine. VERY nice. And possibly a geerlok, but I don't have one for fletching. Jewelcraft is almost as nice, but the four slot bag is teh suck.

Make the planing tool smithed instead :P Then there's a market for stuff :P
