Are there any smithing uses for velium above 206 that do NOT require GoD?

Yeah, I found these too, but I didnt notice the lore/no-drop.... So I bought a slew of spell notes... and whammy.. Too costly to not even be able to sell back to a vendor.

It's fast and not too bad if you farm all your own velium. It sure beats running around trying to skill up on other paths.

I have got a lot of plat from selling items in velks while farming for velium. I am even able to sell the crystalline silk for 5pp per.

EVB is a plat sink if you buy the velium, but farming it is easy - I chose TOFS as my place to farm as I could AOE the entire 5th floor, loot, then go afk till repops. Decent plat, was quick and easy. The money drops then went to buying the tempers and scrolls, at around 18pp per combine it can't be beat. The only draw back IMO is that you have to click and drag, but I GM'd other skills prior to the UI so it's not that big of a deal to me.

If you buy the velium, yep, you better have a big bankroll because you will get nothing back for your clicks.

If you think EVB is costly then you have not really taken a look at smithing post 200+. EVB at a loss is still cheaper in terms of plat and especially TIME (which time has a greatert value then money by far) then any other route to 222.

I guess it depends on your class and lvl, personally I found it quicker and cheaper to farm sellable drops than to farm the velium, mind you Im a lvl 65 shaman.
Id agree though that EVB aren't that expensive compared to some of the recipes out there.

Well, since the question is 206+ smithing that REQUIRES velium, let me point out that the blue diamond clutural armors all require either velium rings or sheets as a subcombine. I.E. Heraldic, Full mithril, Dark Prince regent.....

                Probably other recipes as well.

Keep in mind that the GoD smithing relies on the Velium Bar used in Jewelrycrafting, not bricks or pieces of velium that you can farm. That means the GoD stuff basically requires one or two dropped components, or considering conversion rates from 1/2 to one dropped component, and the rest is fairly inexpensive store bought stuff except for the velium. But then again the resale value of a Pale Velium Inlaid Cestus, for example, is much better then making a lore, no drop item.

What I normally do to farm the velium is go to Velks with a couple of friends that have alts in the proper range and farm for 2-3 hours. I get lots of velium and items to sell - they get lots of exp for doing very little. Works for everyone. I have someone to chat with so it's not so boring too.

I can keep everything from eyes on up clear. No AoE here - have to kill the one at a time.

I found I was able to start breaking even on Sickles around 200ish skill. Granted this was with my own twink druid to imbue the emeralds, and a ton of subcombines.

Requires velium? I have been making acrylia plate and it actually sells decent. If you have the patience to farm the windstones, acrylia and essence of wind, it can MAKE money. Many people say that the bits are the cheapest way... I disagree... with patience and the bazaar, I am making cash all the way up the ladder.

I don't understand the purpose of quoting me in the last post.

The original post in this thread said:

                          And I replied:

Answering his question about smithing that DOES use Velium, and allows skillups above 206.

What has this got to do with acrylia plate, which requires no velium in any way shape or form?

I actually had a aquestion to ask about this as well. I have read in a few other posts that there is also the choice of doing Ethereal Rings from 210-212. Almost all posts said "do this for your 2 free skill-ups." This almost would make me think that you could only attempt this at 210 unmodified skill until its trivial at 212, is this true or can I skillup to 212 on rings from 189 where I stand now?
