2 CotH mages is pretty pricey, what, with every cast taking a reagent.
Get 2 Wizards instead. Put one by Grimel, and the other by the forge.
The one by Grimel binds you at the top of the tower and casts "Translocate : Knowledge" on you while you're feeding the text to Grimel (its a slow cast).
The one by the forge casts "Translocate" (to bind) on you when you've done the smithing, sending you back to Grimel.
Portal Fragments are a lot cheaper than pearls.
(If you're a gating class, dispense with the forge Wizard, and just gate after smithing)
