  • Appearance of GoD smithed weapons

    Simple question.

I was wondering what each piece of GoD smithed (gemmed velium) weapon looks like. I'd like to buy a weapon for my bard, and can use any of the 16/20 options, but I'd like to get the best looking one!

I know that the gemmed mace looks like the vex thal mace of thought (brown hilt, spiney metal top). Does anyone know what the dagger, long sword, morning star look like?

    Thanks in advance!

dagger looks like a Khal or black acrylia style, eg luclin wideboy graphic.
2handed greatsword look like a rough tarnished blade (looks great on Trolls imo)

Who cares what the heck it looks like? Its 16/20.
If you want to play a fashion game, go play City of Heros. =)

If you want bad-tuckus looking weapons in EQ, dive the LDON vendors for Chipped Orcish weapons. Those look awesome. They have terrible stats, even for lvl 1s.

If there are a number of mechanically-equivalent options, what's wrong with picking which one based on non-mechanics criteria?

With the duplication of ratios in the GoD weapons it doesn't seem like it would be too uncommon of an issue. If the slash/pierce/blunt type doesn't matter, and they're equally accessable, why not pick the one that does have a defining attribute - looking good?

Looks > Function, to an extent of course.

I don't care if a helm has +500 HP/Mana, 200 to all stats, if it has a plate graphic keep it the hell away from me.

Function > Looks, for me. But when comparing two items, if FunstionA = functionB, but Looks A < Looks B, I'll go for B.

I don't care if the armor looks like a cloth shirt. If that hat has 100 AC and 1000 HP, I'll wear a shirt on my head, and find another haste item.

If the club looks as plain as a baseball bat, but has one very good ratio, better than what I've got now, I'll use it.

I can say that I am weary of what graphics weapon I carry have. I hate getting pestered for virtue, so I will never again buy a hammer that has the same graphic as the cleric summoned hammers. I reequip my spear to walk around PoK so that people will at least pester me for the correct buffs! (BTW: I RARELY have /role or /anon on, so no, there is not anything I can do about it!)

Do they all correspond to the looks of the Black Acrylia weapons? For the few I've seen, they do. I am most interested in knowing if the Morning Star looks the same as the Black Acrylia one. Can someone confirm?

Link to graphics for Black Acrylia weapons for reference:

Nevermind. I just made a Pale Velium Morning Star. It has the same graphics as the Pale Velium Mace. Which is the same as the Black Acrylia Mace. So thankfully, the GoD Morning Star does *not* look like the Black Acrylia one.

                        Wishful thinking...

I think the LDoN swords from the MMC themes look really nice. I would love to see the Velium Gemmed weapons get these graphics.

Yah. I don't care much about looks if the stats are better on one item, however, I have many 16/20 choices to choose from. I don't want to dump 20k into an ugly thing if I can pay the same for a nice looking weapon. =)

                          Thanks for the responses!

IMO, all of the LDoN 'junk' weapon graphics are woefully underused and are all excellent graphics.

I know that there's one sword using a slightly scaled-up version of the Blood Sword model (Sword of the Crypt Creeper), and a beastlord-only dagger using the sand-covered slate dagger model (Immaculate Elven Dagger), but the other weapon models are crying out to be used for decent items.

Obviously a lot more people than you think. If we're not worried about looks, why even play this game? Why even have different graphics or dyes that can change the color of our armor? Heck, why have graphics at all? Because without the graphics, all this game boils down to is a bunch of randomly generated numbers. If that was the case, I wouldn't even play it because it would be nothing more than pen and paper D&D played over the internet.
