  • GoD stuff - same stats, different graphic?

I'm curious, while doing updates I noticed that these two items have the same stats:

    Pale Golden-Bladed Bastard Sword
    MAGIC ITEM
    Slot: PRIMARY
Skill: 2H Slashing Atk Delay: 39
    DMG: 22 Dmg Bonus: 40
    STR: +7 WIS: +7 INT: +7 AGI: +7 HP: +40 MANA: +40 ENDUR: +40
SV FIRE: +9 SV COLD: +9 SV MAGIC: +9
    WT: 6.0 Size: LARGE
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD BER
    Race: ALL
    Slot 1, Type 4
    Slot 2, Type 7

    EQ item ID: 58921.

    Pale Golden-Hilted Bastard Sword
    MAGIC ITEM
    Slot: PRIMARY
Skill: 2H Slashing Atk Delay: 39
    DMG: 22 Dmg Bonus: 40
    STR: +7 WIS: +7 INT: +7 AGI: +7 HP: +40 MANA: +40 ENDUR: +40
SV FIRE: +9 SV COLD: +9 SV MAGIC: +9
    WT: 6.0 Size: LARGE
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD BER
    Race: ALL
    Slot 1, Type 4
    Slot 2, Type 7

    EQ item ID: 58922

Do they perhaps have different graphics that would make one more desirable than the other?

    Thanks!

These are two new GoD Items... one where the Blade is Golden, one where the hilt is Golden. Different recipes, and different names... but identical stats. They were both added in the GoD Expansion.
Brother Krazick Bloodyscales 65th Trial Scaley Transcendent
      Krizick 37th Kitty Tank

For GoD smithed weapons, you have three ingredients, two of which are optional. The ore, the nihilite, and the JC metal. Except for the hth weapons, when you make the GoD weapons, you make the handle and the "blade" seperately, then combine them together to make the final weapon.

Starting with the ore, of which there are two types, and nothing else, you get one weapon with "base" stats. Shimmering aligned ore (converted into the bar of shimmering steel) makes a better weapon, with a higher level requirement, than the basic aligned ore (bar of aligned steel).

Adding nihilite (pale, and shimmering) adds to the stats. So does using the JC metals (gold, platinum, velium). Remember how I said you create the handle and the blade seperately, then combine them? Both of those parts can be made by adding, or not, the metal and the nihilite. If you only add the metal or the nihilite to one half of the weapon, you get lesser stats than if you added it to both. If you only add the metal or the nihilite to one of the two parts of the weapon, the name reflects which piece got the metal; but regardless of which piece gets the metal or the nihilite, the stats won't change.

Lets look at the two weapons you listed stats for.

Pale Golden-Hilted Bastard Sword, and Pale Golden-Bladed Bastard Sword.

Pale in both names means that pale nihilite was used in making both hilts, and both blades. Bastard sword, instead of Great sword, means that aligned steel was used, instead of shimmering aligned steel. For the one, the gold was used in creating the hilt, but not the blade. For the other, the gold was used in creating the blade, but not the hilt. Because the same materials were used in creating these weapons (two bars of aligned steel, two pale nihilites, and one gold bar each) the stats are the same. If gold had been used in both the blade and the hilt (unlike both of these two weapons here) then you'd have a Pale Golden Bastard Sword.
