I got my 8th shawl back in January and haven't done any tradeskills for just skillups since. I haven't even tried the new UI for tradeskilling... That is, not until last night. I had saved up almost 100 LDoN temper agents and decided to go for a skillup point or two in smithing.
So, I go over to PoK and start making the sub-combines. I realize how easy it is to make the MQFSM & tempers, so I begin to get excited. Then, I actually start making armor. I was able to skill up from 191 to 199 in less than 100 combines! I was expecting one, possibly two or three, skillups with only 280 WIS & my geerlok in hand, but it was a breeze. I actually found myself disappointed in not hitting 200 or 201 in the last 17 combines.
I started with Gorgets for 191 - 194, switched to boots for 195-196, then accidentally bought some Greave molds, so made a dozen and got 1 skillup there, bringing me to 197. Then I switched over to gauntlets, doing another 2-1/2 stacks until I finally ran out of tempers, sitting at 199 raw skill. So I was able to get 8 skillups in the 190's, using less than 100 combines and having only 280 WIS & geerlok equipped.
I have to say, tradeskilling is so much less unpleasant than it used to be. My "whine bucket" (read icebowl for aching wrist from clicking so many times) went unused!
