Smithing is at 104 and wondering if there are any cheap combines out there that can get my skill up at all.

How cheap? What race/class are you? Have you checked the cultural combines? You should probably still be doing banded pieces until 115. Shadowscream armor is very cheap, but it takes tons of farming to get all the pieces needed.
As a wood elf, I went on to do Fier'Dal fletching kits, which took me all the way up to 163, and allowed me to skip ornate completely. Then I farmed leather padding until my brains fell out, and did fine plate to 188. The total cost to go from 163 to 188 was about 500pp, because each fine plate success sold back for almost what the pieces cost (because I was farming my own leather padding.)

Condensed substance + file + water flask, trivial 116. If you farm your own substances (shadeweavers thicket at night, AR, ME, TM and a few more zones I can't think of off the top of my head, but any luclin alien that isn't grol baku) your only plat outlay will be making a file and buying the water. Plus, you can sell the results to fletchers to fund some of the rest of your smithing.
And nolrog is absolutely right, Fine Plate is not necessairly a huge plat sink, if you farm your own padding.
