  • Seemingly newb ? on EVB

This is probably a stupid question, but....

The recipe calls for combining velium bits+coldain temper+spell. Is it actually saying you need to buy up multiple copies of the spell & combine it in the forge?

The reason I question this is:

    1. Usually I thought that when a spell is mentioned it meant that one would mem the spell then cast it to enchant the metal, then combine the enchanted metal with the temper in a forge.

    2. The spells aren't stackable (i think) and aren't then like 85p each? This means that those who posted that they went through 14 stacks would've needed to fill their bags with spells, then use them then go back & repeat, gating or running to the vendor in EC.

So... is that actually correct, you ned to buy many many copies of the spell for 80-some plat each and run back to EC every time you run out? Or Am I missing something?

Holy Crap ! So the guy who burned through 14 stacks without any skillups spent 80plat * 20 per stack * 14 stacks = 22k plat.... Yeouch! Plus all the running back to EC tunnel. Why would anyone want to use this as a skill up path?

I, for one, farm my own velium, I can get 2+ bags in an hour or an hour and a half in Crystal Caverns, usually a few pieces, all teh bricks/blocks break down to pieces so each brick/block is essentially one combine, and it is definately cheaper than doing most (At least Dark elf) Cultural, I'm waiting to continue that till post 222, I hit 220 today, btw =DDD

The Spells (with a charisma buff on) cost me about 14-15pp each. and yup you put the actual spell in the forge to combine.

And, uh, why do you have to run to EC?

I think you have this confused a little. It's asking for the single cast one, not the mass one. Biiiig difference. Always check twice on new recipes

Yup, I can get the spell for just over 12pp in Thurg.
I have a bot parked there with a couple of opal steins to boost his CHA while my smithing main normally hunts in CC. When he gets enough velium for a stack of combines, I buy all the spells and whip them through the shared bank.
Oh, and the result is lore/nodrop so you have to destroy each EVB just after you make it.

Or, just keep one EVB in inventory, and never worry about it again!

                    Doh !

Of course - it'll auto-destroy the duplicate lore item, won't it
