Brick of crude ______ Ore

Hi all,

I am new to the smithing art. I would like to know if Brick of crude iron ore or Brick of crude bronze ore can be used in smithing. I am finding it all over the commons. I would like to know if I can use the crude ore and make something out of it or is it just a waste of time?

They are used in armor quests.
