  • Paranoid - EVB Question

    Someone calm my nerves please..

I recently starting doing EVB. I'd say about 250-280 combines now and not one skill up. I look a break in those combines and did my trusty LDON combines and managed to go from 192 to 196 in 30 combines. I'm worried that having a EVB in my bag while making others is causing the skill ups . Should I leave one bagged or destroy everyone I make?

One other thing: The recipe for EVB won't list in the new tradeskill UI. I have to do it old school. Am I doing something wrong here?

    Thanks for any advice!

No, the UI does not store the recipe and no, having one stored to avoid having to delete them all makes no difference (or at least it never did for me). I think the RNG is just having its way with you is all.

Not sure why, but happened to me. When reached 200, was waiting to get AA`s to waste, so i was collecting velium meanwhile.

Well, when finally got 3 AA's to spare, got like 14 stacks of velium, so i was thinking it was enough, if lucky, to reach 210.

HA. 1 POINT. After 14 stacks of velium got 1 single point. Not sure why, i was even thinking ive missed anything, because was kinda weird. But, after that, it was pretty fast: About 1 skill up every 2 stacks or so.

But having the EVB bagged, or banked, does not make any difference at all, as far as i can say.

I had an EVB in my bag the whole time i skilled up on these. It is fine.

Just remeber 190 - 200 is usually considered a Hell level.
250-280 combines without a skill up sounds pretty bad, but could just be the RNG having its way with you!

We all know what i think the RNG is, so i wont type that word again, cos the moderators will take me out back and smack me upside the head!

I've been getting a reasonable amount of skill ups on EVB and I leave one bagged.

Just a bad RNG. I once posted a bad run on Shadowscream about a year ago, I went over 300 combines with no skillups at around skill 195.

I always have sympathy for others that get hit with RNG-itis like this, after 200 it gets better.

I know I am probably slapping myself on the head when I read what it is, with a feeling of "of course!", but ... what is an EVB?

Im guessing that it is Lore and if you keep one in a bag the new one is auto distroyed for you.

I had one kept in the bank at all times, and for whatever reason, I had an amazing skillup rate on these. From 192 to 222 in less than 14 stacks. Was averaging a skillup about every 10 attempts, even through the hell levels.

Oh, before anyone tells me to stop bragging, I'm not. I deserve that luck after going 500+ tailoring attempts one time without a skillup, back before they made it easier, and when coldain tempers were expensive... =P

I've taken 3 characters to 220 smithing on EVB's alone, (1 of mine and 2 friends) but I did notice that from 190-200 my skillup rate was very slow, sometimes going 60+ attempts without a skillup, once you reach 210 or so, the skillups go up quite rapidly. Having an EVB (Enchanted Velium Bit) in your bag/bank does not make a difference on skilling up either.

Make sure you try to max out your STR, WIS or INT when smithing. That will help you get skill ups faster. From the new information we have, equipping a geerlok, and increasing your skill by 5% will help you succeed more, and thus get more skill ups. For me, STR was the easiest thing to get high, so that's what I did. I smith at a STR around 240 or so (252 if my friend is on to HoS me.)

I suspect that keeping one on your person or in the bank has no effect on your skillup rate, though the autodestroy feature does cut down on having to one extra click of having to destroy them yourself. So I'd personally file keeping on in the bank/in your inventory as a way to increase skillups under "something the Mythbusters would probably bust".

However, the hell levels (usually recognized as somewhere around 190 to somewhere around 220) ARE real. My personal record is 238 combines from 194 to 195, then I got 196 in 2 more combines. It happens.

And yes, the recipe cannot be "learned" because it is considered a quest recipe. It's part of the Grand Robe of the Oracle quest.

Having fairly recently done 192 to 212 on EVBs, I can say with certainty that having one in your inventory does not stop the skillups. I found it easiest to just leave it there, and have the new ones poof on the combine. The biggest issue is just that you are in the hell levels for tradeskills.
