  • Easy Smithing 188 to 222

This is probably posted elsewhere as I'm fairly new to the messageboard section of EQTraders.

When I was working my way through smithing, to achieve the necessary 220 for Aid Grimel Earring Quest... The easiest / fastest route I found was Enchanted velium bits.

    Enchanted Velium Bits:
    small piece of velium x2
    Spell -Enchant: Velium
    coldain velium temper

While I farmed the bazaar most times for the necessary velium.
(blocks usually cost less than small pieces in the long run as they can be chiseled down to = 2 small pcs.)
If buying in bazaar is too costly, Skyshrine is probably the best place for farming velium, some friends have gone there and left with over 100 pieces in just a few hours of solo or duo farming. (L65) oh and take a chisel with you so you can stack and carry more.
This route takes you to 222.

What do you combine the block in to chisel them down? Wouldn't that be a forge? Is there a forge on the bottom of CC? I've never made it down that far.

As for the EVB, when you do the combine, is the spell consumed during the combine, or is it returned?

Combine block and a chisel in a forge. I forget the exact name, the main site would have it (use the search).

      The spell is consumed.

Skyshrine has a forge, no idea if CC does or not as the drop rate there was terrible for me.

The spell costs roughly 12p and some change at my 305 cha.
It's not returned upon combine or failure, once combined its used up. Its only sold in Thurgadin from a NPC inside the rogue guild.

Even with eating the spell it till seemed a cheaper route to go than the armors that do not have much resale value and take tons of subcombines.

Yes, CC does have a forge in the town...a few of them, actually. So if you do your velium farming in CC, have your smithing chisel either on you or in the bank, load up, and use one of the forges in Frostone (the dwarven outpost). There's a banker and a vendor there too in case you need to sell anything and bank all your hard earned pieces of velium.
