  • What is the best way to make plat now ?

Im a 250 smith with trophy , and in the last few months cultural armor and tae ew armor has dropped off a lot. The bazaar on my sever is full of people selling stuff really cheap and the competition is intense. It took me a very long time to get to 250 , I gave up hundreds of hours of doing fun things so I could have a GM smith , but now Im finding its getting harder and harder to make decent plat.
Maybe Im completely out of the loop , so Id appreciate any suggestions from my fellow Smiths on what to combine these days to make plat.

    thank you

pop metals. takes smithing to enchant them for jc folk. made some money off them. ldon armor has prolly been trashed on your server already. look at sickles. see about pop chain and plate stuff.

LDoN recipes are NOT dead. You just can't mass-produce them and expect to make money. Offer to make customized suits with the stats the person prefers, and you'll make plenty of cash. There are HUNDREDS of different armor size, slot, type, and chain vs plate combinations, and scant few of them are for sale in the bazaar or on NPC merchants. I still make good money off these recipes.

Cazic Thule smithing is alive and kicking. Get a decent group 55-65, and you can make a nice pile of cash from the shields, 2-handed swords, longswords, daggers, and chain mails.

Blue Diamond cultural armors are also very profitable, especially with the lower prices of blue diamonds these days.

If you're on the Firiona Vie server, Royal Velium armor sells very nicely.

I haven't done much with the PoP recipes, but I agree, they have a lot of potential for cash.

actually before the db crash i printed out 83 pages of ldon armor. normally gothic and sandblasted are what you sell though unless you have a lot of sks wanting frosted. the market for the others is pretty small. i didn't say it was dead i said it had prolly been trashed. in which case he should do what you said to make money at it. been lucky to get my 7 ldon tempers at 50pp instead of 100 here. doing gothic and sandblasted though.

edit checked it last night. its only 83 pages.

On Drinal in the bazaar sickle sales are fickle. Once someone starts selling sickles for a high price, doesn't take long for other smiths to make some inventory shortly after. But these pauses in availability seem common so sometimes I'll smith up a few sickles to save in inventory until there are none in the bazaar and make a quick plat. People trying to control the market in the bazaar usually make the best customers on these.

If you want to make money trade skilling, don't use the bazaar. It's really that simple. The bazaar is driven by suppliers who are hungry for cash, and thus willing to cut their prices until they feel they can get it.

If you want to make money smithing, you have to go where the demand is. If you want to smith armor for plat, you have to gather supplies to make armor and make it for the slot desired by your customers, with whatever size or imbue they want.

The big money isn't in the mass production, but in the special orders.

Someone once said that the only way to make money in the bazaar with trade skills is to sell the sub combines. The enchanted PoP Metals for example might sell well for you, Ethereal sheets and rings will do the same.

Humming Orbs may sell to other smiths. The MQ folded sheets of metal, Folded sheets of Velium and the like will most likely be your best sellers.

IF I were in your shoes I would put up one suit of BD cultural and see what parts sell the best and also put up the Sub-combine items.

I don't think theirs a solid answer for this. No "magic bullet" that will earn boat loads of plat. However, I do recomend looking for a want and supplying it.

A friend of mine keeps a few sets of the rings for ornate armor on her trader. They sell. She also finds if she puts too many on others do so as well and none sell.
She also puts some Sicles on her trader, and prices them how she feels they should be. Keeps the price up in the bazaar and hers sell eventualy.
Cultural armor might start selling well again *if* bezerkers use plate armor. Any time you intro new characters into the game newbie stuff sells well. If their plate classes your looking at cultural armor. If not....sorry having to wait till 52 to wear Tae Ew Chain dosen't strike me at "twinky" enough.
Still, 1 or 2 Tae Ew shields, Tae Ew Tunic and Leggings, maybe a peice of cultural or two (bracers, BP, and leggings seem to sell well). Guess what I'm trying to say is your looking for opportunity buyers and that means variety. Variety means not mass producing anything.

Oh, last bit, PoP elemental armors seem to do ok. Main thing is you need to gather the rare component for each peice of armor or your realy not making much. People know what their for and they charge way too much to realy make it worth your while in my opinion. Of course this isn't an option for every Smith out there.
Probably the reason I added it last.
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

PoP Chain armor is a place to make PP. Farwater chain tunics on a.ro go for 200kpp+. PoFire chain in the 150kpp range. Legs, coifs have very nice stats and prices. PoWater is the HP zone for chain armor in the same way earth is to HP on silk items. Its difficult to solo, which I do on a daily basis. But as a necro even I end up burning 1 to 2 EE's a day on self rezing. Mobs hit like freight trains (800's minimum on most mobs, 1200's are not uncommon at all). The components are rare... dont buy them in bazaar if you really want to make PP unless you know your economy well. I sell ice for 4kpp per, soapstone 6kpp per, and gills on a.ro go for 9kpp per. Blood about 1.5kpp. So 1 chain BP attempt will cost you about 60kpp and sell for 200+kpp . Success 40% or so and thats a net profit not to be trivialized.

Have you seen the prices of BDs lately? Been going up. Heard of some servers that can't find any for under 600pp now.

Hasn't really went up a whole lot on my server, but I noticed it definally did go up alittle.

                    Easy Money

On Rallos there is a high demand for Anything that remotely resembles good ac, good stat, no lvl req gear. Gothic plate (LDoN) sells ridiculously well. I just make a full set of it, goto the newbie zones and advertise it. I end up with a giant list of orders for all varieties of ldon. The chain I find sells a little better because I sell it for cheaper. But hey 25pp per superb leather padding from that **** pok vendor tends to annoy me. There aren't alot of GM smiths on Rallos. You can almost never find ethereal sheets or rings there. Mainly because you have HIGH demand for ornate armor, so people price the bricks entirely to high to make it worthwhile. The tempers ar outrageous too.

Nightmare PoP armor sells well to high level rogues so that's alway worth a shot and Nightmare isn't a zone you're going to find alot of people in so you don't normally have to fight for drops there.

Problem with Nightmat armor is finding the Nighmare Mephit blood and the Fetid Slime... The Critters that drop the Slime are druids so unless you have a fairly well balanced group or are 65 with lots of AA they are tough to farm. Nightmare Mephits are only in a cave beyond the Hobgoblins that I have seen, please let me know if there is another area for them.
