How much money (pp) would you estimate it would take to raise Smithing from a skill of 0 to 190?

starting with banded and buying everything 0-115 was less than 1000 pp for me

115-187 (where i'm at) cost me about 4000pp... needles till about 130 then plate... much of this cost was due to buying leather padding for 10-15pp each (i did farm a small amount of it)

my int is 203 and charisma about 115 with steins... i sold everything i made back to vendors (other than racial needles) and basically broke even on successful combines

one warning... the plate trivials on the chart (visors, bracers, helmets), other than breastplate, are about 5 or so points lower than listed, so keep an eye on "you can not advance" messages

nie get a few k. we can ae the karanas or sb for lq pelts or lq rockhopper from greyhopper in marus seru. i kill the pit and am leveling up my baby necro in shadeweavers and regularly kill the worms for that silk. got almost a stack of padding i can give you so far. i'm at 165 now. zera has an excellent guide on doing it cheaply but a bit intense with the numbers.
what do you need smithing for? i thought you were already talioring? more pain?

i beleive the needles were nerfed. i farmed fs weapons to do the chain. wolfgong and mel helped. what is your time table?

Agreed on Zera's guide. It's definately the cheapest route to follow. And if you have friends helping you farm for leather padding, and for FS weapons to convert to ore, you're going to do it for a pitance compared to someone buying their way all the way to 188.

Hello everyone. I am 24 Halfling Druid and 132 smith.
My route to skilling up has been fairly cheap.
I saved all the rusty daggers from fishing and converted them to tarnished daggers, then into ore, then into metal bits.

I used the metal bits to make baking utensils -- skewers, pot, smoker, etc. -- then small lanterns to 68, then non-stick frying pans to 91, then embroidering needles to 122.

I saved all of my needles (60+) and fished for Clockwork Koi in Ak'Anon. Raised fishing skill from 40 to 110 and caught about 100 fresh fish and 65 Koi. Brewed the Koi into Clockwork essence and smithed 30 Clockwork needles to 132.

I have not kept track of costs but I know it hasn't been much.
          Hope this helps.

Now My turn to ask a question. Hee hee
I've read about this great Smithing Guide from Zeralynn but could not find it on EQ Trader's Corner... just a mention of a PDF file, on the "Learn Smithing" page, but no link. :-( Can you help me locate it?
          Thanks,

Not that often really. I figure a lot of people have it bookmarked.
