  • Skillup Cost Comparisons: LDoN armors, enchanted velium bits?

    Hi, all!

I was just pondering, seeing as it costs nearly 13 plat per combine to make the enchanted velium bits, how much platinum is lost when making LDoN armors and vendoring them straight away?

See, I have buttloads of tempers, but my pace in making LDoN armors is demand-driven, as I only make it to-order. These velium recipes are more convenient, but I wonder about the cost.

First, I'm going to assume 2 things:
      1. You farm your components

      2. There hasn't been another sell-back nerf in the last 3 weeks

If these hold true; then vendor selling LDoN armors are actually profitable(Gothic Ringmail, anyway).

You can only farm the temper components...

Which I might add ALL go for over 100PP each on Xegony! What a RIPOFF!!! And that's just for the component! NOT the temper itself! You still have to brew your tempers, and will obviously fail some.

FARM temper components only, unless you have more PP than brains!

Those of you with more PP than brains, don't take that to personally, it's just jealousy speaking.

My main is a High Elf Paladin. When I did smithing originally I stopped at 188 (fine plate BP trivial). As soon as Ldon smithing came out, I started that. Ldon smithing is the way to go from 188-210. Get your Friends and guildies to save the tempers for you and also farm them yourself. If you have more pp than brains (yeah.. i love having that problem) then buy the tempers as well.

Ldon smithing is such an easy recipe compared to Shadowscream and cultural that it's the logical way to get smithing to a point where you can do the Aid Grimel quest.

SO... Start Ldon as soon as practical after banded and low level Fine Plate recipes.

Take Ldon to 210 then go to the 2 "free" skill ups then cultural to 220.

Even if you don't do the Aid Grimel quest, I recommend using the quest to get from 220-227. After 227 go back to cultural or shadowscream or acrylia or whatever you can. 227+ is the real challenge in Smithing.

That's really the "easiest" and "cheapest" way to 227.. I look at 4 things in skill up recipes.

            1. # of items in final combine (fewer the better)
            2. Cost of final combine
            3. Ease of collecting items (vendor bought items being the best, but bazaar purchasable is good too)
            4. Trivial of the Recipe (I try to use recipes with trivials as close to my current skill as possible)

For me if items are Easily purchased, it outweighs the other 3 items. (having the problem of more pp than brains is a good thing and I do not mind lots of mouse clicks)

enchanted bits triv at 222. if you can get velium and cvt they are pretty easy. use your tempers first though. enchanted bits trivs higher. also you should make money with the ldon.
