  • Coldain Velium temper

Checked the usual Vendor for this tonight and found Nimren Stonecutter in Thurgadin didn't have any. Can anyone tell me if this is a timed inventory item (there had been a patch) or if there is a new vendor for the Temper.

    Thanks in advance.

      ...

      I'll summarize for you:

Sony screwed up. Vendor was selling for 0 pp.

Lots of people bought tons of these.

Sony 'solved' the problem by removing the item from the vendor. This way the exploiters stay happy because their 0pp item is now worth whatever they can get away with in the bazaar, I've heard 35pp isn't too uncommon now.

If you don't want to pay, you can always make your own. So if you want to put enough temper together to make up 100 studs for tailoring, let's say, you'd only need to make up 200 tempers. That's only 800 celestial solvents, 200 coldain heaters, and then the final combines -- a mere 1200 subcombines (before failures) for something you could buy before with 10 clicks.

Yes, honest tradeskillers just got bent over a barrel. But in the long-term scheme of things, that's just one more minor inconvenience for tradeskill junkies. And the folks 'in the know' about the 0pp vendor all have nice stashes of pp now. How nice for all involved.

I asked Denmom a while back if she could find out for us if this was a permanent 'removal' or not. Never heard any response. I'm guessing that means we might as well either pay exploiters and reward them for cheating, or get a good case of carpal tunnel making subcombines.

This even happened on test server.
I went to thurg to buy CVT to do some enchanted velium bit combines for smithing skillups and didnt notice till after i bought 3 stacks they were free.... then i notices a naked, anon toon run in, go to the vendor, pause a few moments, then run away.. only to return a few mins later... they then logged and another naked anon toon ran in to the vendor.. and then wan to the bank (followed em).

I promptly petitioned it. Lots of good that did, eh? It still went live.

Fortunately the slimeball cheaters are kind enough to charge 10p for CVTs on test. /rude

Thanks for the answers and aye upon reflection I should have searched.

Pity, should have been a no-brainer to change the price back to what it was. Oh well..I guess its brewing time.

I noticed the item dissapear from the vendor. I am a bit unclear as to which patch set it to 0 cost because when the enchanted velium bits where being discussed I wanted to verify a cost of purchase and I could have sworn I actually clicked on the vendor to see the price when I was calculating them but at the time I didn't need any so I didn't buy em. Some amount of time later I notice the influx in the bazaar and eventually came across these posts. I was wondering what the impact to the market would be as 10-20pp per item can add up but how much? So I did a little number crunching and what makes it bad is the number of mules that could have been created in an attempt to hold the stuff. I hadn't thought of it till the person above mentioned it. But another thought that had occured to me is if they had/have a sell back cost. Why stock pile when you could sell them back for plat on the spot. But I've never tried to sell one back so I dont know if vendors want them even to this day.

It does make you wonder why the removal of the item instead of just a price set back to normal. As removing the item only hurts the honest people.

Does make you wonder why they dont just look at the logs and peoples accounts and go after them but I hear the logs arn't all they are cracked up to be.

Personally I'd blame those responsible for setting the price to 0pp. Exploiting that was human nature, and to be expected. (And no, I didn't)

And removing the tempers from the vendor was just a cop-out.
