Cultural Smithing

I have just started to do some cultural smithing in Halas.

I am a Barbarian Shaman with Smithing skill at 100. I tried Northman Long Daggar and made one that was trivial even though the trivial was indicated at <=106 I can confirm it is <=100 now.

I tried both Northman Kite shield and the Northman Claymore and neither would combine in the northmen's forge which worked for he Long Dagger.

My question is basically is there a problem with the receipes posted on eqtrader for some of the cultural items. I double and triple checked the recipes I was using for both items.

Comparing the current database with an ancient version of the recipes I have, they do look different.

Both the Northman claymore and Northman kite shield are currently listed as using MQ sheet metal, whereas the older listing has Folded MQ sheet. Try using a folded sheet of MQ ore instead of the plain MQ sheet, and see if that works.

Thanks for the response - MQ Folded sheet metal didn't work with the claymore - I need to check still on the Kite shield--

That is odd Goodluck with further experimenting. Here's the section I have on the barbarian cultural weapons - it is *horribly* out of date (Aug 5, 2002), but maybe it will be helpful in figuring out reasonable variations to try:

In the Northman Forge:

• northman long dagger: flask water, hilt mold, pommel mold, dagger blade mold, MQ sheet of metal
  
• imbued northman long dagger: frost temper, hilt mold, pommel mold, dagger blade mold, MQ sheet of metal, imbued ivory or jade
  
• northman claymore: flask water, hilt mold, pommel mold, heavy steel blade mold, MQ folded sheet of metal
  
• imbued northman claymore: frost temper, hilt mold, pommel mold, heavy steel blade mold, MQ folded sheet of metal, imbued ivory or jade
  
• northman throwing axe: flask water, throwing axe mold, MQ sheet of metal
  
• northman battle axe: flask water, axe head mold, oak shaft, MQ folded sheet of metal
  
• imbued northman battle axe: frost temper, axe head mold, oak shaft, MQ folded sheet of metal, imbued ivory or jade
  
• northman mace: flask water, mace mold, oak shaft, MQ sheet of metal
  
• imbued northman mace: frost temper, mace mold, oak shaft, MQ sheet of metal, imbued ivory or jade
  
• northman kite shield: kite shield mold, smithy hammer, flask water, MQ folded sheet of metal - NOTE: you need the (medium) kite shield mold from Qeynos for this, NOT the large kite shield mold from Halas
  
• imbued northman kite shield: kite shield mold, smithy hammer, frost temper, MQ folded sheet of metal, imbued ivory (and possibly jade?)

my error,

I was adding the smithing hammer for no good reason on the attempts with the folded sheets and the claymore. The claymore does work with folded.

The kite shield mold I tried was from Halas, I will try the one from Qyenos and suspect it will work as advertised
