Small set of skill-up data from 182 to 188 using Fine Plate

I just got around to finishing fine plate from about a year ago when I left off. It took far fewer combines then I had planned for.

WIS: 280 and +5 geerlok used

To Obtain Skill Level || It took this many combines

182 || 5
183 || 4
184 || 8
185 || 1
186 || 2
187 || 8
188 || 4

Average No. of Combines / Skill Up: 4.6

Here is my small set of data to compare Stats read STR/WIS/INT, and all combine attempts were Fine Steel Chestplates. (NOTE My stats had a modest increase in the middle of this run) I also used a Geerlok, so +5% skill on these attempts.

(181) || 4
(182) || 16
(183) || 7
(184) || 10

(185) || 16
(186) || 8
(187) || 7
(188) || 1

(179-184) 60 attempts/6 skillups = about 1 skill per 10 tries
(185-188) 32 attempts/4 skillups = about 1 skill per 8 tries
ALL Average skillups per combine = 9.2

Even though this is a small sampling... WOW, what a difference!! Remember kids, don't forget to MAX your Smithing stat of choice! wink

i'm currently at 179, i noticed that the greeves triv@182 and the BP @ 188.

should i do greeves from 180-182? or just do all BPs? Is there a major diff in resell price between greeves and BP? they both use 3 sheets. Would i stand a better chance of skilling up better with greeves then BPs?
