  • player made weapons

with the exception of the black acrylia and maybe bane weapons it seems like the mob dropped stuff is better than player made. the amount of time spent farming to make a fiery weapon (for example) even when in a group of the appropriate level to do sol a if you saved the money you could buy better in bazaar. was wondering if anyone else felt like that before i feed back it. you have to be about lv 5 or 6 to get the low quality hides to make fine plate. you have to be 20 to do ldon and get the tempers.

it just seemed the weapons are lacking for the level required to get the components yourself. i know most aren't making fine plate at that level but still it is possible. obviously shields are almost non existant as well though.

if anyone who has used them can say whether they are good or not i would appreciate it. look ok but not as good as some of the bazaar trash lately. /cry for wurmslayer being sold at 200pp. you used to be uber.

edit oh sorry reason i wanted to know was i was going to feedback it and i'm trying really hard to equip another toon of mine in all stuff i have made. in fine plate at the moment and going into gothic when i get smithing higher. cleric will be in sand blasted. none of the weapons i could make looked good though so wanted to see if they were better than they looked.

There is a type of weapon taht has great stats and has a fair ratio, Zek Bane weapons. But GL with those. Beyond bane and BA, there aren't really any weapons in the game worth making for any reason.

The weapons are an after thought... Most people will use them for skill ups only.

Devs have told us time and again that the best weapons and armor in the game will ALWAYS be dropped from Mobs.

Feed Back it if you want but do not expect alot.

it wasn't that they are uber weapons i would make. was expecting something i could farm around 40ish or even exp on at 40ish that would get me significantly better than a fine steel weapon. maybe to 1/3 to 1/2 dmg/delay ratio. blackend alloy bastard sword i could farm and is magic with 24/39 dmg/dly. its even old-world loot. firebrand bastard sword also made from stuff dropping from goblins about that level is 7 + 3/32. dont need stuff thats 12/15 but maybe a 10/20 or 15/30 magic i could make instead of farming it or buying in bazaar just to say he was only wearing stuff i had made. /shrug

allas has 46 as the level i need to be to get centi weapons. i wouldn't mind if they dropped centi ore and i had to make the sword or something but the stuff i can make with even 200 skill in blacksmith (i'm really 165 but would get it up more before the attempt) at 41 i loot better weapons than stuff drops to make them. i could live with the difference if it was close but after making a bunch of valorium bars for ppl i doubt the triv for a decent weapon should be over 200. if pop stuff trivs 250+ i think 200 triv for good weapons is perfectly fine. i will feedback it if i get on today then. i tradeskill for fun and like having my toons run around in stuff i have made. its just upsetting that i would do so much work to make a pretty crappy weapon by today's standards.

I made some fiery weapons in the early days (around level 10) as it was about the easiest way to get hold of something that was magical. I've also exhausted the possibilities on dwarven weaponry and shields (which aren't that many ).

I'd love to see more weapons and shields available for smithing. They don't have to be fantastic - semi decent would do

            Maybe some specialist bane weapons...

            Grolber's Giant Killer -
2hs whatever +6 bane damage verses giants

I know that the dev team mentioned doing more with shields so i'm praying at least a few of them could be smithable.

                weapon to make

There is one player made weapon that is preety good, and the pieces are easily obtained. The Mistletoe Cutting Sickle.

When I was looking at getting my druid a weapon with wiz stats, my options were preety limited. I could have spent 5K+ for a good weapon, but didnt wanna do that. So I made the Cutting Sickle.

Most people make the scimitar for the earring quest, but it is actually a preety decent weapon for a druid. And its player made.

                Slot: PRIMARY
Skill: 1H Slashing Atk Delay: 22
                DMG: 8
                WIS: +5 MANA: +20 SV MAGIC: +5
                WT: 5.4 Size: SMALL
                Class: DRU

2h blunt can only be made by dwarves. magic. 20/30 +6 vs giants. triv 235 and name it something really dwarven like bouldercrushers. ore drops from named giants in velk and kael or pop giants. +6 str/sta. put req level 35 on it for balance. something like that.

                    elven light lonsword
1h slash can only be made by elves. magic. 9/18 + 4 dmg vs orcs. triv 210 and take moonlingt temper and ore dropped from crushbone cause i can't think of a higher level orc place besides rujarkin. +4 agi/str would put a req level 35 on it for balance so you can't get a 9/18 1h slash too soon but centis are better without even rec level so /shrug. cept against orcs.

maybe erudites get a kobold killer and humans a gnoll killer. could add centi ore drops and other stuff. acrylia is too rare and hard to get to make weapons with instead of armor. maybe like the ldon tempers for armor have a section of ldon weapon tempers. a good ratio str/sta sword from gothic temper wars would love. its called centi longsword.

not the whole list of weapons racially but maybe a few special. wood elves get scimitar and high elves long sword. would add a lot of flavor eq weapons.

i have an erudite main doing all my tradeskills so would have to buy these to use but as long as they were player-made would be ok for my alts that i'm trying to make everything for myself.

edit on the elven light longsword maybe mithril and bd would be better than having the ore drop from crushbone would make it too easy to skillup on get the zone farmed away from newbies. like the idea of mobs dropping something that players can use to make almost equivalent loot to what they drop. like the quest for white dragonscale cloak but with tradeskill instead of questing. and maybe you want to make white dragonscale boots instead of a cloak or maybe pants. get some variety in the outcomes.

Check out the Tae Ew weapons. Of course, CT is a 55+ zone, the Tae Ew blood usually costs 1k on my server, and I never see swampwood staves for the pole weapons/maces for sale.

tae ewe is bigger than i was looking to make but looks good. i wanted something around yttrium level without the bane dmg. now to see how hard the weapons are to make. not triv like component gathering.

k so where do i get yttrium. its not on sight. how rare is the stuff for the temper. looks like good weapons esp against seru but not sure i can get the stuff yet.

edit lol. nevermind on yttrium. its no drop anyway. can't use it for my warrior. and tae ew requires level 51 which my warrior is not. my main is only 42.
looks like deathsteel is less than what i wanted but closest. only prob is droga and nurga revamped and i not quite big enough yet.
like the combine weapons cept the stuff for temper is too rare to not use on plate. might look to buy some in bazaar. dont think i big enough for gimling in tenebrous yet where the windstones dropbut might try. going kos to elementals on twilight island is asking for probs. wish port in wasn't in the middle of the island.
