Ok well I have done 30 or 40 tries with and without a geerlok making honed Ykesha blades with my 224 skill troll smith. My success rate is around 20%! without a geerlok (its 222 trivial) and a whopping 50% WITH a geerlok (235 modified)! So obviously they can not be made and sold at a profit at my skill at all.

Trivial > 250 by far.

Actually it isn't it IS 222. I am most definitely getting you can no longer increase your skill with this messages when i succeed unless they changed it in the last week or 2.
err edit I never tried it with 222 but it is = 224 or less.Kolotha

And I have done a few of the other under 250 skill troll cultural combines and they are trivial by 224. If the trivial was any higher, I sure as hell wouldn't be bothering with them, given how much they sell for. Hmm actually I guess this is a trivial confirmation as well as a bug report, note these ARE NOT the 250+ trvial versions of the weapons, the ones that are listed at less then 250 are what I am doing.Last edited by Kolotha; 11-15-2003, 08:16 PM.Kolotha

Yes they do. I brought my troll up to make these and was hoping to skill up off them, but found them to be trivial below 224. By all means make a honed ykesha yourself and see, before you continue to argue with me.Kolotha

OK as I am not a Troll Smith I cannot validate or argue the Trivial Level of your cultural, I can however speak to my own cultural.
The success rate of any cultural item, even trivial ones, is streaky. I had 20 tempers to help equip a friend that came back to the game after a long absence. He made a high elven cleric so naturally I was going to make him the old world cultural to wear. at 220 skill at the time I only made about 8 out of 20 parts. Failed alot on items that should have been trivial.
Moral of the story, just because something is trivial does not mean that you will always make it. RNG and such can cause streaks.Sir Cavel Cade

trivial
Your success rate is normal when compared to similar armour such as BD plate. Whether the trivial is 250 or not, often things don’t hit the 5% failure level for many levels above the trivial cut off.
Tae Ew Chain is about 85% success at 250 for me, BD plate is about 45% for me, both are 250+ skill, so it varies. Given Defeneders Lightblades etc that are around only a few Troll Weapons will be in demand at a price worth making.Radodverge Bluddoath "The Red Dwarf" 66 Paladin

I am a Gm Troll smith and with all the final combines I have done the triv >250. I would say my success is around 40% to 50%, 80% if I'm doing it for a friend 20% if I'm doing it for myself to sell.
I have pretty much given up doing any Troll cultural the prices on PoP weapons have dropped so much and the time it takes to find the ground spawn in Innothule it's just not worth it. The only money I have made is doing sickles when there is a shortage in the bazaar.

Yes it is, it actually seems easier then human BD cultural (50% chance with geerlok instead of 30% or so), but much harder then other items with a similar trivial.Kolotha

Hm, prices have dropped, but I make money on it - I farm the blue diamonds and acrylia myself, and keep a sharp eye on the bazaar for bargains on SSoYs, Runed Falchions and shimmering orbs. (Nothing else seems to sell very well.) Since I have basically nothing put in but time, the occasional 3k-8k sale comes as a nice boost.
But you're right, the market isn't huge.Grimgrey Dorfeater
