  • LDoN Armor Pricing

Ok, I know quite a few people are probably making LDoN armor now to trivial in the high 190's/low 200's. But who is selling it in the bazaar and for how much/what server? It seems like you almost always take some sort of loss.

Craft carefully and find out what the market is interested in (talk to lower level guildies if you're in a guild, since twinks and those around 20-30th level are your primary market).

Also remember that some combinations are inherently less popular than others. Large Sandplasted Plate for example. There are no classes that are 1) large race, 2) have WIS as a prime requisite and, 3) also wear plate. Shaman would love this armour if they could wear it, but they're limited to chain, warriors like plate, but don't usually see a need for WIS. So it's never going to sell as well as medium or small sandblasted (which I can't keep in stock when verbena is available).

Calcified Steel is another strange fish. I've resigned myself to using these purely for skillups, as I can't get more for it than a vendor will pay no matter what size. It doesn't help that there are a lot of people out there crafting this and bazaaring it for below cost, or just vendoring it by the cart full.

Cost is generally too server dependant to be reliable. Your best bet there is do some bazaar seraches and see what the market will support.

In a most general sense, on Prexus, the market is so bogged with anything and everything, that it's not uncommon to occasionally catch someone selling parts for less than what a merchant will pay with good faction and CHA. Thus being said, most is sold back to merchants, except for the rare few pieces that make decent quick twink gear at low cost (wis giving chain/plate is about it). For us, LDoN stuff is purely a skillup path

I haven't made all that many, but I kept it simple.

Assuming you LOOT all your tempers, and don't buy from the price gougers in the bazaar...

a 1 sheet item runs 47pp + Mold (up to 7pp max if I remember)
a 2 sheet item runs 68pp + Mold (up to 19pp max if I remember)
a 3 sheet item runs 89PP + Mold (up to 24pp max if I remember)

I've only made 2 and 3 sheet items, because my skill is 203 already, but I priced

2 sheet helms and arms at 125pp each and sold them all over a couple weeks. (about 60-80% profit)

3 sheet legs and BP's... sold the legs for 175 each and the BP's for 200 each. (almost 100% profit)

I'm running a 95% success rate on combines so far, so I'm making a healthy profit. Ya just gotta be patient enough to sell it in the bazaar instead of to a vendor and LOOT your own temper components! Don't buy from the horrific price gougers in the bazaar!

I'm at 214 now so beyond LDoN finally, but I've sold probably ~150 or so pieces of armor. What I did is use goblin bones, pondweed, and ice lichen purely for skill-ups, and I sold gothic and sandblasted in the bazaar. For gothic I made small/medium/large bracers, boots, vambraces and greaves, sandblasted the same except small/medium sizes. Generally I sold bracers for 100, gothic boots/vambraces 250, greaves 350. Sandblasted boots 250, vambraces 300, greaves 400. By doing this I was able to buy tempers up to 150 or so (once I got past bracers) and still at least break even.
Before smithing though I would go to your bazaar, search for each type of armor, and see who is making pieces, what size/type they're making. Even after people started crashing my market I was able to adapt by making specific sizes and pieces, i.e. someone started making medium vambraces cheap, so I specialized in small and large. I stuck to my prices and I have sold everything except the last batch of greaves I did, and those are slowly selling. It takes a fair amount of work and patience, as well as bank/trader space if you want to do this, but being able to break even/make a profit (I didn't closely keep track) was worth it. Mileage will vary with your server, this was on ARo. Best sellers btw were vambraces of both kinds, and sandblasted greaves

I'm in a guild that is all level 65 and VT/Elemental so nobody really needs it.

But I did notice that Gothic and Sandblasted sell the best. I was wondering if it had anything to do with augmentations for tanks sicne Gothic has a type 3 (I believe).

gothic has str/sta. great war pal sk
sand blasted has wis great cleric pal

agi is pointess for most and int for sks is a little too narrow a market i feel.

Large Calcified, great for large tanks looking to up their agi
All size Gothic, simply a tanks dream, with Magic resist
All size Frosted, Shadowknights love, and resist cold for freezing ikkies
Med/small Sandblasted, cleric / pally dream
Deep Cavern... does anybody even DO guk adventures?

I obtain my own tempers through adventures / friends... temper ingredients sell for 10x what swirling shadows go for in the bazaar

I only do 2-3 sheet items as I'm 192 atm... and sell 2 sheet items at 150-190, and 3 sheet items at 200-250, depending on current state of bazaar.

Don't underestimate these plate armor pieces... simply great AC and some nice stats if targetted to the right people... 200-250pp for a 27 AC BP with str/sta & SV Magic is MORE than reasonable... and allows a bit of profit when taking a loss to the huge surplus that you have to vendor-sell in order to have SOME money in the bank...

I haven't set up my merchant in a week, but I've been doing steady business since I was able to start scoring tempers. Here's some of the things I do:

                  - Like the man said, know the market. There is no market for small frosted, large sandblasted plate, etc. If there isn't a common class that can use it, you won't sell it. (That said, I've had some bizarre special orders...including an ogre who wanted an entire suit of large sandblasted plate...he said something about the fire resist and his sword of skyfire. Haven't heard from him since, though.)

                  - Knowing the market also means knowing what *else* is for sale out there. A +4 wis plate helm is a very nice purchase for 300 pp. A +4 Agi helm is all but worthless. And why buy wis gaunts from me when gauntlets of the black give better stats and better ac for less than what I would charge?

                  - Forget BPs, at least on my server. For some reason, every skiller makes them and dumps them on the market. So pricing is barely above cost.

                  - Frosted...don't know why anyone would bother. Small frosted is useless, gnome SKs have enough int. There might be a market for large frosted, but I'm not in it.

                  - Calcified seems to sell okay on my server, surprisingly well in fact. At first I dumped all to a merchant, but on a whim I made some large calci and it sold. Medium calcified legs have also sold pretty regularly.

                  - From just a money angle, the plate masks sell *very* well. 10 AC is nice for the face slot. Unfortunately, they trivial early in the process.

                  - I can't seem to sell deep cavern at all much at all. No idea why not, I figured dex to be more attractive than agi, but most of my deep cavern is unsold.

                  - For prices, I keep mine somewhere between reasonable and what the market will bear. Plate legs I sell for between 275-350 (low price on calcified, high on sandblasted and gothic). Arms and helm about 50 less across the board.
