Aid Grimel - WOW

Finally got bertox Flag yesterday. With that I hail Aid Grimel and recieve my Breast plate to clean.

I bind in front of him and go off to make My celestial essences for acid wash. I make 39 Acid washes(failed on last one with 250 brewing) with the hopes of getting 1 or 2 skill ups.

To make a long storry short 18 combines give 222-227 skill ups

I am a druid so all I did was make a hotkey to say phrase. egress, run up ramp do combine and gate back to him. About 1-2min round trip.


One question for those that have done this step in Grimel quest. The final combine, hard success ?? what skill should I attemp it ?

Yuck, currently am at final step just need to find nightmare mephit blood. Smithing at 228 realy dont want to farm shadow scream. might look at sickles

236 + geerlok, no fails on any of them. Frankly, I wouldn't even bother trying to raise smithing for this combine. It will be alot easier to get extra blood, rain, etc than to farm smithing items for skillups.

The only tradeskills you want to have really high is tailoring and fletching. Failing those combines is going to suck because the drops are pretty rare.

Considering work that it takes farming SS supplies to get from 227 to 250 i would suggest just attempting it at 227. That is my plan atleast, still need Bertox flag though and i am 214 smithing so i need to get to 222 so i can do combine (hehe now if only that dwarf would respawn again) and i will be there.

Have 1 spare rain , Haven seen any blood yet even in bazaar. Can you give me any details on farming for it ?

Thanks for tips on tailoring and fletching will be a while before I need to worry about them still need MM and Rz flags.

Tailoring already at 236 with about suff for 150 ish combines ( common 242 pls)

I never hunted for the blood myself since my friend had tons of em. I believe they drop in the hobgobbie cave in PoN.

It does indeed drop in the cave in PoN. One solid group in their 60's can farm it, it is a fairly common drop, then only problem is getting past the hobgoblins to the mephits. If a group is camping them, then it is fairly easy to get in. If no one is, then you'll need to clear them a bit to get down to the mephit area. The hobgobs are immune to snare and root, and I think mez as well (not sure on that one) so have at least 2 tanks. It is sometimes hard to get singles. The mephits are fairly simple. Remember to save the mephit meat as well to use in baking. Best of luck.

Bloods are a fairly common drop. If you have a 65 bard friend, they can solo the mephits on the plateau. It's not bad xp and they could get you plenty of blood.

My bard mezz works on most hobgoblins.

Some hogboblins are the nasties: painwrack and scourge. Both are level 59-61, scourge is a shaman. I am pretty sure those 2 are unrootable and unmezzable. Hit for 471ish if my memory is correct. All hobgoblins see through invisibility and are NOT undead.

The entrance to the tunnels the nightmare mephits are in, is under water. Northern end of PoNightmare. There are a number of one way drops in the tunnels. Take the right hand passage (see map above).

The polite thing to do is have a chat with the goblin group to make sure you don't train them or irritate them unnecessarily.
