  • Cultural needle nerf

As of today ( 6 Nov 03 ) vendors are no longer purchasing Fier'Dal needles from players, at least on Stromm. While it's still a viable skillup tool it is no longer a plat generator and the combine is now a plat loss on sucess or failure (baring sale to another player). Would have been nice for them to just lower the buyback price so we could recover some of the cost, but ya know how it goes.

edit: it appears embroidering needles are no longer able to be sold back either.

    Sigh....another source of revenue gone

I have always used needles as a way to make some spare change on the side. I would frequently scan the smithing vendors in the PoK for embroidering needles and buy all they had for 1sp each. Then I'd go fishing for an hour or two in Akanon for Clockwork Koi and convert those into Clockwork Essence. Then I'd combine them into Clockwork Needles and sell em back to the vendors for 9pp+ each! It was an easy way to make 9pp profit on needles when the embroidering needles were available.

Oh well!!!!! =( Guess its back to the old farm farm farm.......
    Twas good while it lasted.

I've had a few dozen embroidering needles in the bank for a week or two now (on another character, 'cause they don't stack). I spent t he last week or so getting my brewing up to make the essences (hour or so each night). Got my brewing up to 130 or so earlier this week. I've spent the last couple of nights fishing in Ak'anon and got about a stack of clockwork koi (I'm a dwarven rogue--no foraging for me). Made a stack or so of essences last night.

Tonight I was going to make the darn cultural needles to get my smithing to 132 and make a few plat change on the side---BLAAAAH! Perfect timing!

Anybody wanna buy a bunch of clockwork needles???

Bleah, with all of these changes and nerfs going on, I better get cracking on Edition 6.

Just confirmed that NO cultural needles are able to be sold back to vendors. They also will not buy back embroidering needles.

Ouch, I have 200 combines worth of needle material in the bank. Was waiting to get a few more skill points before finishin''em. So much for minimizing my losses.

Yeah, if this is intended and not some mistake, looks like my guide will need to be modified too.
