  • A troll, shaman smith?

Alas it's time I venture out into the tradeskill world. Time to pay for the countless levels of absuing townsfolk and their guards..

A little about Suggar.. He is a 65 troll prophet of cazic thule. With kei he has 272 wisdom, and can get str, dex, agi to 280 with self buffs. I have about 25k or so stored up for smithing. My goal is to get high enough for doing the 8th shawl quests.. Beyond that, if it is something that I continue to love.. well then look out ) Maybe my Bertoxx SK will find a Bertoxx cleric and Ill make him some long sought after cultural On Xegony there is no Fetid armor hehe.

Well my request.. Those evil race smiths who have trudged the path before me, could you give me some tips on what might be the fastest, maybe the least costly paths to say 200ish skill.. and importantly what will be some speed bumps ill encopunter along the way?

I am just beginning to read up on alot of the posts I found when I searched evil races, trolls, fastest etc etc... But thought I would shoot out this request in a manner which might not get flamed (

    Thanks for your time

My main tradeskilling character is a Cazic-worshipping Troll as well. These days, race and religion are relatively unimportant - with PoK and Shadowhaven vendors ready to sell to anyone, the easiest, fastest methods are the same for all races. (It does help on a few recipes to be aligned with the dwarves rather than the giants in Velious, but if you're planning on doing the shawl quests you most likely are already.)

You might try Zeralenn's guide (link is in the smithing area under "learn a skill" on the main site) - it will take you to the levels you need for shawl 8.

My troll smith hit 199 last night after much neglect.

Between PoK and Neriak, you won't hit a single snag until after fine plate. I've been doing LDON, which means that temper ingredients will be your sticking point after fine plate. After that it's shadowscream, and with no faction issues around Shar Vahl you should have no problems other than the usual tedium.

As a shaman, you get the upside of cha and str buffs (and don't forget bear form for the wis boost). Downside is the lack of PBAE that makes the Hollowshade War much easier, but I just sic pet and JBB.

Single best investment is cha gear and a geerlok hammer. Keeps costs to a minimum...despite the horror stories you always hear, I seriously doubt that I spent more than 8-10k to this point, and I've probably made 40-50k by patiently selling my pots, pie tins and LDON armors.
