  • Human Cultural... is forge broken?

Has anyone made any Freeport Human Cultural armor lately?

I placed in the Freeport Forge: chain jointing, high quality folded sheet metal, leather padding, plate gorget mold, sea temper, smithy hammer.

When I hit combine and it said "You can not combine these in this container"?

I double checked everything like 10 times, and even tried a few different molds. Was wondering if anyone has made any lately or is the forge broken?

Anyone know if there is another forge? Maybe in the tunnels for the evil characters?

Can anyone can test this forge on their server that would be great.

It's been awhile since I did any Freeport cultural smithing but I have seen other people with this problem before.

    A few things to check:

Using the correct forge? There is an ordinary forge near the Freeport forge and sometimes they get confused. The cultural forge is up on the raised platform, the ordinary one is next to the door. It is behind the warrior's guild in West Freeport. There is no forge in the evil tunnels.

Using the right size mold? You cannot, to the best of my knowledge, use large or small molds in human cultural smithing. I never have a problem using the molds you can buy from the human vendor in the Bazaar or the upstairs vendor in Ithkar's (East Freeport).

Using the right folded sheet metal? You need to make the HQ folded metal from blocks of HQ ore, you cannot use the sheet metal available for purchase from vendors.

I did some combines in there not too long ago and they seemed to work fine. Something may have changed though.

Make sure that you are using the "plate gorget mold" and not the regular old "gorget mold" or "full plate gorget mold" or any of the others.

There is only one Freeport cultural forge. It is on the wooden platform in the enclosed yard out behind the warrior guild, near the arena. It should say "Freeport Forge" up top when you open it up.

I have a few sea tempers I can burn. I am at work now, but tonight I will try to make a couple of those neck pieces and see if it works or not and report back here (unless someone else wants to test it earlier and let us know)

I'll double check everything again tonight and let ya know.

I'm certain it's the right forge, as I've used it before, plus all the parts are definitely correct.

It's possible though that in my haste to get started I added a flask of water in addition by mistake. I'll try again tonight and see.

        Thanks

Freeport cultural doesn't use a special hammer. Just the regular old smithy hammer.

              Tested as promised.

I did three Field Plate Collars just now in the Freeport Forge. 2 out of 3 successes. Both the recipe and the forge appear to be working properly, at least here on Fennin.

Very odd... May be a server issue. I would suggest you try it again tonight. I know at times of high lag I have gotten the message on some attempts, due to the client side showing the items in the forge but the server not seeing all of them there.

                Might be simple as that.

What ever the issue was... it seems to be fixed now. Thanks for the responses!

                    Cultural Success Rate

On a side note, as I will soon be working on making some Freeport armor to skill up on, what is the skill-up rate like?
                    Thanks,
                    Em

Depends on your luck with the RNG and your str/wis/int numbers as to how quickly the skill ups come. In my opinion, it's a heavier dose of the first factor, as I pulled down a better success rate with 230-250 str than some people with 305 wisdom, but /shrug, that's just me.

Either way, the number that most people suggest is a skill up per 20-25 combines.

When I was doing Freeport stuff and collecting the necessary components, I collected 10 stacks of temper/padding/gems etc. and kept those 20 and 25 numbers in my head, so that in the end I was either a) happy because 1/20 is great or b) not disapointed with 1/25, because it could be alot worse. Long as I got 8-10 skill ups out of a 10 stack run, I didn't get too worked up about failures/bad runs.

Oh, in the end, when it was all said and done (188-242), I averaged 1 in 18.5 combines.

                      G'luck.

                        thanks

Right now I'm still skilling up on karana steel arrowheads, but after 188 I had planned on going straight into Freeport cultural. Already started collecting all the components and making tempers.
