new to tradeskills here and have a few questions:

i'm a dark elf necro (L43) and would love to outfit myself in a set of dark prince sovereign... currently, the pieces i see sell for around 7000pp each on my server (stromm) give or take a little, which adds up to a lot of pp farming time for me... from checking out your handy trivial calculator it seems possible that i could make the stuff with about 160+ in smithing, maybe 25% of the time... i'm curious for a rough estimate on game time and pp it might take to get to this level (real rough is okay)

i do know brewers and dark elf enchanters and clerics... which sounds like it will help... plus the idea of making it myself seems kinda cool ... do i know what i'm getting into?

I know exactly what you're getting into

And it's much more expensive than the 7k per piece. The numbers might show that you can succeed 25% of the time on the items, but my experience has been that you actually succeed on them when below 200 or so only about 5% of the time.

Once you factor in the amount of money it will take to get to your 160 mark, then the amount of money you'll spend on failures to get the pieces you want, you're going to be in a much deeper deficit.

If you want to smith because it appeals to you, then go for it! If you're seriously just smithing to get those pieces, I wouldn't suggest it. Your frustration level will be much lower if you buy them from another smith.

i figured it wasn't that easy, and since i'm a somewhat casual player, i didn't want to kill all my xp time... thanks for the warning Ladnia

i'll try to find some dark elf smiths on my server and see if i can work something out
