Just to note, when I read about beginning blacksmithing, the usual next step after Metal Bits is to do Studs. I prefer to do Field Point Arrowheads, which only require one metal bit as well as a file and water, and trivial at 41. You get more tries out of all those metal bits you made.

It depends on which method you follow. My guide doesn't recommend studs at all, but recommends boning to 37, cookie cutters to 40, and then throwing knives to 51. I don't recommend field point arrowheads because of the terrible sellback price.

why not both
I am skilling on smithing doing both on all my toons in turn, since I still need studs for tailoring skillups and my ranger always needs more fieldpoint arrowheads.Light, Love, & Laughter!
