  • Skilling up past 168 for a Dark Elf

    So I've gotten to 168 doing Fine Plate. I'm sick and tired of leather padding so I'm looking at jumping to Dark Elven Cultural. The recipes on eqtraders are somewhat fuzzy on the trivial levels. Anyone have a suggested path? This is what I'm looking at currently:

    Enchanted Teir'dal Chain Gloves <=176
    Imbued Teir'dal Chain Neckguard <=183
    Imbued Teir'dal Chainmail Skirt <=196

    I'd like to stay away from plate if possible. Did I mention I was sick of Leather Padding? If it's not possible just give me the bad news and I'll start farming again.

    I'm a 65 enchanter so I can enchant and create my own mana vials. I also have a pocket Cleric that worships innoruuk so I can do my own imbues.

    Any guidence would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Z

    Hiya, Zeler!

    As much as you may hate doing leather padding, its much easier to find low quality pelts in the bazaar than farm essence of shadow for the shadowed temper. In an hour of farming Shadowed Men you might be lucky enough to get 6 essence..maybe..and that only makes 3 tempers (2 per combine)! (Additionally, you may find quite a few essences in the bazaar but shadowed is hardly ever for sale). If you are going to go with the imbued armor you will also need a cleric to imbue the sapphires and if you are doing enchanted you will find yourself taking a big chunk of time enchanting all of your adamantite.

    You can get to 188 making FP BPs. Once you hit 188 you may want to go with shadowscream as a skill up. I would stay away from acrylia as the windstones are just too rare. With LDoN though I would suggest this previously unavailable route. If you can farm the tempers its a much easier and less time consuming affair. I would try to stick to farming and guildies help though as goblin bones and pondweed have recently been on sale in SH bazaar for 1k a piece.

      Can u B more specific?

      You mentioned "Once you hit 188 you may want to go with shadowscream as a skill up" - Isnt there a farm item or two on that also? (Be gentle on me - I am just lookin at the recipe post). If i count the addition of my TRUSTY Geerlok Smiffin Device I have 196 as my score. That said I dont mind takin a chance on some items as long as the overall chances dont fall below 85% for a success. What are the feelings of some of U Grand Masters out there. Also - again is not ShadowScream also a farm requiring armour? Thanks...

        i'd suggest ldon smithing, since it trivials at 212. the temper ingredients are pretty rare to common drops (depending on the dungeon theme) and more common as forages. also sell for 10pp off merchants they've been sold to

        as for the droprate, it seems common are goblin bones (rujark) and pondweed (deepest guk...never adventured it, but seen tons on merchants), while sand verbena are uncommon to semi rare (i get about 3 per takish adventure, but hear horror stories of 0 for 8 straight adventures) and the rare to impossible are ice lichen (miragul) and gargoyle granite (mistmoore) where out of 3 adventures to each, i've seen exactly 1 of each component drop (but my ranger's foraged up about 8 lichen in 1 adventure)

          I think the component drops in LDoN vary by level.. I've done mistmoore several times, never had a granite drop, but I get 2-3 on forages every adventure at level 38.

          My main is 52, I usually see 1-2 drops of goblin bones, and a few forages (although I don't have a ranger or druid as often at the higher levels for some reason).

            Did a 58-65 rujark last night.. got 20 (yes.. twenty) bones... i was.. in shock.

            As for old cultural, you'll hate it much more than fs... the estimates above on essence drops is average.... they really suck.

            Stick to fs till 188, then go ldon to 210/212.
