  • Cultural Smithing

My barbarian warrior is working on his smithing and very tired of farming in hollowshade. Is there a minimum skill required to try the cultural gear? I know that there is a minimum skill required for the PoP ornate gear. Wanted to know if I could try some combines at 190?

PoP Ornate Gear is *kinda* like a Quest. But what it does is it checks for Level, as only lvl 55+ toons can receive the armor.

Tradeskills does not check for Level, in fact, there has been a person who GM'd Jewel Craft at the ripe ole age of 1!

So go ahead and good luck!

Cultural Tradeskill Recipes only verify that the proper recipe in the proper tradeskill container is being attempted. And to use that tradeskill container you MUST be the correct Race. Illusions will NOT fool the container.

You can try and create a Cultural Tradeskill Item with a Skill Level of zero, but your chances of success are very small. Given the cost of the components (in farming time or plat), folks won't normally attempt them until in the mid to high 100's.

I think I was 1/20 on BD cultural at skill 195ish or so. The rate does start to jump radically once you get over 200 raw skill, but you could TRY it at skill 0 if you wanted.

have a barbarian shaman friend who is looking at artificer's. i am doin all the subcombines with my smithing and then need a 250 barb smith for the final. problem with barbarian cultural is that its the northman low triv stuff or artificer's type stuff that trivials >250. if your close go for it, but i can't imagine the pain getting the blue diamonds for the celestial temper is. essecense of winter drops off tundra yetis in dreadlands. without kunark only other place is permafrost ice giants. ice goblin blood is easy in permafrost. velium rings shouldn't be that difficult to get/make. we are planinng on getting everything from drops or maybe breaking down and buying the bd but it still seems pricey to skill on. just wanted to share what i'd found when looking at this stuff myself. i actually plan to be the gm erudite blacksmith one day. would be nice to have something special to show for it but oh well. some of the stuff didn't look bad but for the difficulty or price its not as good as buying a drop or farming a drop anymore.

EDIT i think the 5% minimum fail rate holds true for a 5% minimum success rate too. just my own idea though. haven't seen anyone else with it though. seemed kinda reasonable on my fishrolls when skilling up. blacksmith is too pricey to try that though.

I thought it was lvl55+ OR having a flag to a tier2 plane (where ornate molds drop)?
