  • LDoN temper sales?

So I've done a few missions and foraged some stuff. I look in the bazaar, and I see that currently 3 people have pondscum (for the swamp temper) for sale for 600 PLAT!! Is this just my crazy server (Luclin) or are other servers having this insane pricing going on too? I did a look for any of the tempers made from the foraged drops but couldn't find any.

    Pondweed

I was fortunate enough to find 10 Pondweed (not scum) off a vendor. He sold them to me for 10pp each and change. (my CHA was 120).

I quickly turned them into Swamp Temper and made 10 Deep Cavern Steel armor pieces!! I gave them all to my guildies.

Don't even consider paying anything near that considering the vendors sell it back for 10pp. Bet I just got lucky finding them on a vendor cause I know this will be a hot item for a while.

Consider the total cost to make a Deep Cavern Steel Breastplate was only 115pp (vendor will only offer you about 85pp for it though).

When people find new items flagged as tradeskill items, they put them in the bazaar for a large amount, then reduce the price until it sells.

The person in question is probably not trying to extort anybody.

I see everything but the granite at 35-50pp each in bazaar. Granite is 400. I do quite a bit of adventures, so I ask groupmates to save me the temper componenets taht drop/forage and in exchange I disband or zone when they split the cash proceeds from looted crap. Works out good for me, I usualy get between 10 and 30 per adventure

I have racial forage at 50, so I don't really bother. However, I can merchant farm the forehead off an Erudite, so I have gathered all these components and decided to sell them at 50pp each. I figure it was a nice profit for me (40pp per), and it didn't seem exorbitant. (If it were, I suppose people will stop buying it.) At any rate, I even sold several gargoyle granites at that price. Perhaps that was foolish of me, but oh well. Once I bother to raise my smithing a bit, I suppose I will start keeping these components, but until then, 50pp each or whatever the market will bear. *shrug*

Folks are selling LDoN temper components on Rodcet from 2pp up to 1000pp, (yeah you read that right.. 1K) LOL.

I'm sure after a few weeks things will settle down some to a more standard price, ie) few hunderd pp or less.

            cheers

Joe loots a Pondweed. Joe sets up trader. Nobody else in Bazaar is selling Pondweed, so Joe says, "Well, I have no idea how rare this is, or what it's for, but I only got one, so I'll list it for 1k tonight, and tomorrow I'll check and see if there are more sellers, so I can determine the average price."

Bob logs in to the Bazaar to sell his Pondweed. Bob also has no idea what it's for, how rare it is, or what it's worth. He sees Joe selling it for 1k. He decided to undercut Joe a little, and list his for 900p.

This is how sale price is determined when a new item begins droping, before market value can be discovered. It will just take a little while for Joe and Bob to figure out what they're selling...

Where this all breaks down is when fools BUY Joe and Bob's pondweed for those outrageous prices.

get a group of lv 20 sick twinks to farm the dungeons for you. i would suggest wood elf and iskar or foraging class. get 6 druids. all healers and have dps. as uber twinks you will prolly even win your missions. alternatively, just stay by the entrance and forage for 2 hours.

I've been on a grant total of TWO adventures. Both in Mistmoore. One on a 55 warrior, and the second on a 40 cleric.

Not ONE single gargoyle granite drop. And only had a bard forager once with my cleric. Heh, I never thought to ask him about foraging any. *shrug*

This is NOT looking like a viable skill up path for me. Granted, I'm at 203 already, so only 9 possible points from it, but DANG I had hoped for a handfull of temper components here or there.

All of the temper components I saw last night on Xegony were 500pp each; I think everything was represented except for Pondweed.

Well, on Stromm, I have only been able to find granite temper in the bazaar. It was 200pp per. Nothing else has been for sale. Everyone I keep talking to says, "Oh so thats what its for!Sighh, Gee, I just destroyed a stack." *whimper* I've been offering 50pp per over the auction channel, but so far no takers. Those 2 tempers is all I've managed to aquire so far. The nice thing is, Miragul at least, is nearly always grouping up, with just about all levels. Sooner or later I'll be able to get my hands on a stack

I don't understand the problem here unless your /friend list is empty.

I probably get 10 to 30 LDoN temper components handed to me by friends every day.

Actually, as a matter of fact, my friends list IS empty. I was deployed for over a year and missed 3 expansions. I know how to make plat enough quickly, that within being back in game 2 weeks, I now have over 180 smithing. I have always prefered tradeskills to xp hunting. The few who knew me before I left, either aren't around anymore, or have moved. I was on RN and XEG before I left. When I came back, it was cheaper to buy the Evolution than it was to buy the missing expansions. Since I was starting all over from scratch, I started on Stromm (listed as a newbie server). I had forgotten even the most basic things, like how to move. It was an absolute blast. I didn't want to revive my old account, as I was afraid running around as a lvl 45 Druid, or 35 Shaman, and still jumping because I cant remember to hit the enter bar first would get me the sort of *Ebayer!* remarks. I am now a lvl 12 Barb Shaman, and not looking forward to xp grinding. I'm just grateful that, unlike other expansions, this one has content for lowbies. WHEW. I have a few people I have grouped with lately, and will soon be making friends. I just don't want to be the sort of person that says "Be my friend, ok, now give me stuff". Yes, even though I am willing to pay, it does make me uncomfortable. Yes, I know friends do that for each other, over the long term, but I'm not working from the long term here yet. I'm sure you didn't mean your comment to deride me, it just came across that way. NO, not everyone has friends, or makes them easily. Starting over wasn't easy either, but I'm actually having fun doing so anyway. When's the last time you sprinted to the guards in Halas screaming "train of decaying skeles to ramp!!". I'm loving it, and finding fun in a game I had just about lost interest in before I left.
Sigh, looking this over, I realize, BACK TO GRAMMAR CLASS FOOL!! Ah well
