i don't see what the big deal is. look at when LoY came out. all the recipies were around 200 give or take 15 points in either direction. i've ener ahd any skill above 100 until i came to this server. i got my smithing up the hard way with banded being riv around 100 and then fp at 188. there was and is absolutely NO WAY i'm going to make SS unless i am forced into doing it. i don't ahve the aptience. i'm thankyful to have the LDoN tempers to give me an extra 24 points of nonSS armor. SS takes too long farm, doens't sell worth crap, NPCs laugh at you when you sell it to them. if there was onyl some alternative liek this for tailoring....170-200 other then acrylia or ribbons

Be thankful you have alternatives such as acrylia or ribbons. Back in the day, you went from Wu's to Velious - a 100 point spread...and you couldn't brew your own Coldain tempers =)

Is it possible to make the cleansed breastplate in the aid grimel quest repeatedly in order to skill up from 220 to 227?

Honestly, for a level 65 Cleric, farming in HS isn't hard at all, nor is it time consuming.

Just recently I farmed there for in total around 80 combines worth of materials. About 2 hours was what I needed to get 80 substances of one kind, another 2 hours for the other. I didn't manipulate the war in HSM, I just pop in once in a while to see what mobs are at the camps in the SE corner and farm them. Even if you only have like 30 minutes, you can still farm them quite easily.

The *real* timesink I've personally seen is the farming of the Swirling Shadows. Looking at the above, I spent 4 hours gathering the needed substances. I spent 2 *days* in Shadeweavers Thicket gathering the needed shadows (I once tried the shades in Twilight Sea, but with their lifetap procs, it became something of an impossible mission on my own).

I've done several hundred combines of Heraldic armor and never seen a single skillup from them.

                shhhhhhhhhh I have a secret.

Tae Ew tunics trivial at 248
are VERY cheap to make. Just get a regular group to help you farm the blood and making Tae Ew is an incredible way to raise skill above 220.

The Bloods are rare but not as rare as pristine scales... The Chain Tunics are nice for Shammy, Rangers and Rogues. Anyone have the trivials for the other Tae Ew chain Parts?

                      Tae ew

Tae ew chain tunic, and all other pieces of tae ew chain, trivial at OVER 250.

As far as skillup paths post 212, I found that to be the point at which mistletoe cutting sickles became economically viable to make. You should break even or lose a LITTLE cash making these at 212 skill, and selling them in the bazaar. HOWEVER, as you skillup, and the success rate improves, you will start MAKING money on them.

PLUS : NO FARMING OF ANYTHING. Lots of annoying subcombines, but you can sit there and smith until your hand falls off, no farming greens required.
