The AC is 27, and the breastplates have two type 2 slots =).
Yours is more recent, then.

I hope.
I'm not sure how you qualify 27 AC on a BP as 'decent'.
Acrylia BP has 30 AC
enchanted teir'dal has 26
thurg quested has 47 (warrior) or 42 (SK, bard, paladin, cleric)
Certain pieces of Sandblasted plate have more AC and WIS than Imbued Koada`Dal, but not very many. Still, I replaced those .
The new plate also has more room for augmentations.
Really, this is quite good gear, both smithed and bought off the adventure merchants, for non-twinked or lightly-twinked low to mid level characters.
Consider that an acrylia breastplate costs like 700 to 1000 plat in the bazaar on Innoruuk (no idea how much it costs to make--but I know windstones are difficult to get), but the materials to make the new breastplates cost a total of under 100 plat.

I thought I had put something about the under 50 crowd, but I see I removed it. Yes, it is decent for the under 50 crowd. Offhand, I don't know what percent of the population of EQ that is, but I'm willing to hazard it's a small one, and not just on stormhammer.

I can make any piece of acrylia armour for the cost of molds, which is under 25pp for anything I'm pretty sure (and 15pp for the mana vial). All the other pieces are farmed. A BP will take 3 blocks, 1 large brick, 1 emerald, 1 poison vial, 1 essence of wind and 2 windstones (and a few water flasks).
Without knowing drop rates, I don't know how useful this is for skilling up, but it's pretty much DoA as far as selling goes. Which doesn't really suprise me to be honest, probably the smartest way to go about these things.
It also depends on what type of augments the armour can take. An AC27 BP that can have (for example) an aura of health augmentation added to it will sell for more than a 'plain' AC27 BP.
And gothic plate/chain will have a (small-but-decent) market on my server, at least (reasonable AC, nice stats, extra magic resist and augment slots will sell quite happily to pvp twinks on the cheap. )
Itzena Alhazared, Revenant of {Planeteers}, Vallon Zek. And also a seamstress. Gelcea Macha, Wandering Animist of Tarew Marr. Will be a smith, one day.

Shadowscream sells, and this stuff has better AC than shadowscream (even comparing it to the chain). Thus, this will probably sell, especially given the 2 augment slots. Might not be much for profit (if that "costs less than 100pp" translates into 'nearly 100pp'), but its something.
I doubt it the market will be able to handle the inevitable influx of the LoDN smithed armors at first, but given time it will probably get to something akin to Shadowscream levels of sale, most likely better.
Just to confirm. The LDoN armors require BOTH a temper AND a flask of water? I believe this makes them the only armor sets that need both; all others use either water or a specific temper, but not both.

windstones are EXTREMELY rare drops and not practical at all for skill ups. On Tarew Marr windstones go for 200pp each and you need 2 per temper. 1 day of trying to use Acrylia to skill up taught me better
as far as the ldon for skill ups... i would think you'd have to farm with 4 people to get into the dungeons, which is not always as practical as farming by yourself to make other items. (ie shadowscream, or various other shortcuts depending on culture)

So higher level smithed items like BD cultural, Tae Ew etc dont get 2 augment slots? Things that never trivial should get more than one augment I would think at least for the harder to succeed items.
Also augments all seem to be type one (single stat) enhancements.
No LDoN weapons to be made either sigh, most dissapointing.
