I am getting so so so frustrated with shadowscream.

I am a High Elf. High Elf cultural seems to have a smooth trivial progression, unlike the huge leap I'm trying to make with shadowscream (currently around 190 skill).

There is another thread here that has indicated you will skill up a lot faster with smaller trivial jumps, so maybe High Elf cultural is the way to go.

Morning Dews are easy to get. The Essense of Moonlight and Swirling Mist... not so sure. I know that Essense of Moonlight drops in MM Catacombs, though, so that will get much easier when LDoN goes live.

Does anybody have any experience in this, and any comments on whether this is a better path for me than shadowscream?

Also, I do not have a ton of money to spend. The only part that might cost money is the mithril (from merchant, not counting cost of enchanting). I keep forgetting to check the price in Felwithe when I'm at home, and it's not listed on this site. Can somebody post the price of the various mithril bricks/blocks?

    Thanks for any input.

Making Koada'dal armor requires (a) TONS of morning dew which needs to be foraged and (b) TONS of bricks of mithril enchanted (about 19pp each). Since it takes the help of a foraging class and the help of an enchanter (and I'm neither), it can be troublesome to make.

Farming Essense of Moonlight in Mistmoore isn't too hard. But wiping out areas for swirling mists drops gets to be annoying (I often buy it in bazaar).

But the good news is, the armor is pretty decent stuff and quite possibly still selling.

Unless I missed something there is no guarntee that Essence of Moonlight will drop in the new MM zone.

I have access to foragers and enchanters.

Are you saying the bricks are 19p from the vendor, or from an enchanter?

Here is a break down for you from a Hie Smith:

Only Large bricks can be enchanted so to make a bracer one needs the following
4 large bricks of enchanted Mith. Approx 80pp
            1 Leather padding
            5 Morning Dew
            2 Moonlight
            1 swirling mist

3 Enchanted bricks + Morning Dew + HIE Smithing hammer = Folded sheet

2 Moonlight + Swirling mist + Morning Dew = Moonlight temper

1 Morning dew + enchanted Large Brick + File = 2 enchanted Mith Rings

1 Morning dew + Enchanted Rings + HIE Smith Hammer + File = Enchanted Mith Jointing

Moonlight temper + Plate Bracer Mold + Folded Sheet + Mith Jointing + Leather Padding + HIE Hammer = Mith Bracer

Long way to go for a skill up and they do not sell back for as much as the parts cost to make them...

As to where to get the parts go to TS for the Elementals for Swirling mist... Water elementals drop them often up there.

I just hope the LDoN smithing gives us a viable new skillup path.

I'm trying to test it, but having a hard time getting the components right now.

I'm a High Elf Magician smith. I can't stand wasting my work on Shadowscream although I do it, when i can get the war to work for me.

Currently at 224 smithing, which has been a combination of Shadowscream, "Old" and "New (blue diamond)" High Elf cultural, Acrylia plate, and Mistletoe Cutting Sickles.

                  1) Old cultural, I have excellent success with but it doesn't sell well. Also, as noted above the Morning Dew needs are insane. 3 full stacks for 6 attempts at armor.... UGH! Once we got all the clerics in the guild suited up, I moved on to

                  2) New cultural. Good enough success on it. But once Ornate started selling well, sales dried up on that too. However Blue Diamonds are easy to pull off merchants and it doesn't take nearly as much morning dew as Old cultural. You'll also need lots of Blocks of Velium and Coldain Velium Tempers. Working on getting the twink clerics upgraded to this hehe

                  3) Acrylia plate is used for skill by some other players in the Bazaar, who have now undercut each other to far below the break-even point. I'll keep making it but once i'm out of supplies I won't bother buying more.

                  4) Mistletoe Sickles sell still but it's just now at 224 skill that my success is enough to break even on them. Had one lucky run with 40% success. i make them in batches of 20, each run costs ~5kpp once I have the blessed dust, tempers, and essence in hand. I buy all those in the bazaar when i can, for ~5kpp. each attempt costs 478pp assuming no failures. can do them for less but i contract out the essence, dust, and temper whenever possible.

As a high elf you have lots of skill paths which is wonderful! But each and every one of them has "issues". Cultural takes morning dew and an enchanter, acrylia takes rare drops and an enchanter. At least sickles don't need an enchanter, just endless low level combines. So choose your poison

Essence of Moonlight dropped in one of the new LDoN MM zones for me last night. It does appear to be a rare drop, however.

For what it's worth, I've been to 13 Mistmoore dungeons now, and have seen exactly 3 essence of moonlight drop.

Still simpler to just go storm the castle in old school Mistmoore, at least for the moment

                        High Elf Cultural

Personally, from my experience Shadowscrean is still the best route. After hitting 188 and buckling down it took me exactly two weekends of farming Hollowshade to make it to 220. I had enough components banked for 40 attempts at High Elf cultural so around about 212 I used them all and got zero skill ups. This was two different runs at 20 each time. Every last one of my skillups came from Shadowscream with the exception of the freebies at 211 and 212 from the Ethereal Sheets. Based on my results, I would have to give Shadowscream the nod. Granted I only made 40 attempts, so my sample size is small. but Shadowscream definitely was better for me. That is the route I would reccomend. And just as a referece I was averaging better than one skill point per 20 shadowscream combinies, twice I got 4 skillups on 40 combines and not once did I have to go over 40 combines to get a point. Just out of curiosity, what was your experience with shadowscream?

Eaeariel, what class/level are you? I'm a 65 Cleric and find it harder then @#$% to farm SS components. You say it only took you two weekends of farming, I'm guessing you're a ranger, with track...

A high elf ranger would be a bad guess.

                              Ainna,

Do the Hollow Shade War. South Island, get either Bears or wolves up. Use Earthquake or an upgrade to that spell (Not sure if there is one). At 65 with the point blank AOE and all the buffs that you have you should have no trouble getting Essences.

What I do (3 box) I have a Chanter, Druid and Pally. I buff the living heck out of the 59 pally and go around and Whack every one of the mobs on the island once with the pally. Then when I have them all in a nice little group hitting on the Pally the Druid does Earthquake and BANG! lots of dead Wolves or Bears.

Then I go to Bazaar or TS and get the Shadows.
