Breastplate Cleansing for skill?

I just wanted to make sure this can be done. I am going to do what I can I think making dwarven cultural to 215. Not sure how I am going to get 215 to 220 but maybe shadowscream (/shiver, they named it appropriately, emphasis on scream).

But assuming I have all the flags in place, once I get to 220 I can start cleansing the breastplate until trivial at 227?

edit: This is for the Aid Grimel quest where he asks you to take a breastplate and clean it with acid wash. Just wanted to make sure he would keep giving you the bp even though you already had been given one. Thanks!

If you have your flags and killed those that must be killed. Then yes you may do this for skill up.

I tried this way and Aid Grimel would not give me the BP cause I had not done all that was needed.

yup, I got 2 skillups from 2 stacks of acid washes to put me at 222. It wasn't too hard since i could bind at Aid Grimel and levant in PoK then run to the forge and gate back.

However, since i'm already at the 4th Aid Grimel earing and past the blacksmithing and jewlcraft part (you have to smith your bar of purified velium) I don't know if i'll continue with any efforts towards skilling up smithing further.

I did this from 220-222 then 223-227. I'm a rogue so it took a painful long time running up and down a hundred times or so but I figured it was a *lot* faster than the shadowscream route I took to 220. This is doable at any point in the quest, you can do it as soon as you hit 220 or you can go farther in the quest and come back to it.

What I did was made 40 of the acid wash's at a time and went from there. I didn't take notes but on average it felt like I got a skillup per stack and I got all 7 points in just 1 evening, which was more and faster than I got any with shadowscream =p


I got point 223 by doing the final combine of the quest, did it with geerlok in hand.


It's certainly a viable path if you got the bertox flag, and it breaks the monotony of doing the same shadowscream over and over.

I recommend it highly.

Sorry for my ignorance. I know to get a Bertoxx access, you have to get the access via CoD zone. Can someone explain where and how you kill the other two mobs? Just curious. Thanks.

The other two mobs referred to are part of the quest script for killing Grummus. You have to get flagged in part of a Grummus kill to get the flags needed to take part in a Bert kill.

I understand 2 skill ups in 40 tries is very good at that level, but isn't that extremely expensive? Like around 800pp a combine?

Each skill attempt on this costs less than most armor molds. I personally went 220-227 on them in a couple hours and highly recommend it.

Where did you get the 800 pp number? The acid wash only requires 3 celestial essence i think.

800p is from the Velium bar combine that uses smithing (officially the Jewelcrafting step), he is a little confused on which smithing combine people were talking about I believe.

There are 3 steps in the blacksmithing part of the Aid Grimel Quest.

1. Acid Wash of Dirty Breastplate
2. Combine Cleansed Breastplate with Hurricane Temper
3. Combine BP from step 2 with 2 Black Diamonds of Nightmare

The first step only requires 3 celestial essences and 1 jar of acid per combine. This first combine is trivial at 227. The 800pp velium bar combine you are thinking of is for the third earing which is the jewelcraft part.
