  • Q. Components seem really rare, is there any other way I can advance my Research skil

    From the FAQ:
    Q. Components seem really rare, is there any other way I can advance my Research skill?

    A. Yes, there are a couple of ways. First, you can make swatches for the INT Caster Robes introduced in the LoY expansion. Or, you can do the Concordance of Research quest and try Practice Research.

Sadly the link to the swatches for the INT Caster Robes is broken can anybody tell me more about that, is it worth doing?

Is the Concordance of Research thing worth bothering with? Is it more trouble than it is worth or can it give your research skill an invaluable boost difficult to acquire just by combining scrolls?

Links from FAQ are not updated to new database.

You can find information by browsing the main site or just click here LoY INT swatches

When I was skilling up, several of the Concordance of Research quests were broken. They required items that did not drop in game. That may be fixed now.

As to whether it's worth it, that depends greatly on what class you are. Buying enchanter pages off merchants and combining them for skillups is cheapish and easy. Mages have it harder, since they need to include a spell scroll in the combine, and those are pricey for skillup attempts.

Or just buy the skill up at your local trainer. You can train it all the way up to 200. Best way to go, really.

Enchanters do have it easiest to raise skill, due to being able to unfade the faded pages. depending on the page, these have decent trivials but are cheap to buy from vendors and, once unfaded, sell back for more.

          All the way to 200?

Which trainer did you do that with, I used the PoK trainerwith my w35 wizzzy and could only get 95, It's hard to find runes to up skill, and even harder to get all the stuff needed for Concordance of Research quest, where can I train research to 200?

Research skill is level-capped, and the maximum skill you can have is (level-15)x5. So it looks like you might have tried to train at 34 (not 35) and got capped at 95, at 35 you should be able to get to 100.

You'll need to gain more levels if you want to raise your skill more. According to the formula, you cannot reach the 200 cap until level 55.

              Another Option

Another option is to use your training points for research only. Since research isn't trainable til lvl 16, u put 1 point in each skill you up to lvl 16. That should be 85 training points and most ever skill should have 1 point in it by that time. After lvl 16, u dump all the points you can into Research. Thats what I did for my mage and so far it seems to work well.

Once you have a point in each of the casting abilities, all you have to do is use a low lvl spell for each skill type to max it out

PS: Make sure you save AT LEAST 1 point no matter what. This is your lifs mission. If you don't do anything else what so ever in life, save this 1 ONE point. Reason: When your lvl 65 and you want to change specialization, you can ) I actually have like 5 saved up on my 65 casting classes
