Q: Where can I find (XYZ - Old Research item)?

A: Experience has shown that Old Research items will drop off of MoBs whose level is within 6 levels of the level of the spell they are used to create.


Does this mean that any MOB within 6 levels of any research item may drop that item or do specific MOBs drop specific research items? To loot a certain research item do I need to know from which MOB(s) it drops?

Is the six level rule plus and minus , just plus or just minus. That is, to loot a lvl 24 research item should kill MOBs lvls 18-24 or 18-30 or 24-30?

I'm virtually certain it's only plus. I wasn't able to kill stuff that dropped the pages to research Feedback (level 29 spell) until I was in my early 30s. Then I ended up with several spares (which sold FAST to level 29 enchanters who couldn't find the pages to research their own copy of Feedback).

Same thing with my alts: the ones in their low-20s get pages for the level 16 and 20 spells, low-30s get pages for level 29 spells.
