  • Wizard Research At Lvl 75, Now what? Any Advice?

Hi, I'm wondering what the best way/path is to level from Research of 75.
I have tons of runes in the bank, mostly for spells pre-lvl 50.

    First Question:
Will I be able to use those pre-lvl 50 spell runes to continue to level from research of 75?

    Second Question:(Regarding Practice Runes)
Are practice runes useless up to a certain level? Is there a trivial for them?
IN ADDITION: I could have sworn there is a vendor in W. Freeport that sells practice runes in/near the wizard's guild. Can anyone verify this and if so what kind of runes these are?

    Thanks!

(sorry if any of these questions were already answered)

Pre 50 level components will allow you to get your skill up into the 180's. The higher the spell they make, the higher the trivial.

Practice runes take a lot of time to make, and cost.. it's probably about the same money wise to buy the skill from a trainer, if you want to go that way. No vendors sell pracitce runes, you have to make them. There's different levels of practice runes, just liike components.. and they trivial out just like all other tradeskill things.

      Hi there!

      1) Using Pre-Level-50 Research you can skill up all the way to 184, so go ahead and use up your runes before you spend any training points. Remember the ‘younger’ wizards and distribute your successes to those less fortunate

      2) Practice Rune Researching is more time-involved that regular research since you need more components, but for the most part they are commonly dropped items, you just need to farm them (and they mostly don’t stack – ugh). Plus, once you make the practice runes in the Concordance of Research you must switch to your Lexicon to combine the pair.

Since you have runes, my recommendation is not to make practice runes until you run out of the regular ones.

If you saw practice runes on a vendor, it’s because someone made them and sold them to that vendor, because they are not a regularly stocked item.

      *Important*

Keep in mind that Research is level capped, Cap = (level-15) * 5 so always know your level cap before you start combining and do not try to get skill-ups after you have reached it, until you Ding your next level, as you will only waste components and frustrate yourself.

      Good luck!

        What Next

Ok well I managed to get myself up to 118.
Though spells prior to 39 now don't give any skillups.
        Thanks for your advice.
I was also noticing on EQ Traders list that a nice way to level up Tailoring for High Elves is included, Finally an alternative to Acrylia heh.

You weren’t kidding when you said you had a lot of runes, if you went from skill 75 to 118

          Grats!

Now you need only concentrate on these runes for levels 39, 44 and 49 (and the runes of Attraction and The Inverse can be dispensed with once you’ve trivialed on lev 39 spells)

          Ap'Sagor
          Attraction
          Conception
          Concussion
          Crippling
          Embrace
          Frost
          Impetus
          The Astral
          The Combine
          The Inverse
          The Rathe

These can get you to 184 without needing any of the new runes for 50+ spells, but if you get your hands on those, try them too!

As for Practice Runes, I believe that the Expert, Master and Magi rune sets are the only recipes you need to look at if you want to try them.

          Grats again, and good luck

            Yeah, Runes

Well in looking at the Practice runes and the issues in creating them, I started to feel a bit nauseous.

I guess I'll have to hunt around for some more runes etc.
            Thanks for your help.

PS. Just Wondering, how can DRINKING be a tradeskill?

Drinking is what Tradeskills drive you to.

Plus, the brewers have to do something with all their product, don't they?
