• Thing you need to know about Researching

First of all, Research isn't like getting other trade skill items and components. And it's also nothing like named loot. Research components drop off monsters, regardless of class or type. Level is what dictates what drops what.

From level 16 to level 49, all INT casters have researched spells, which components drop from mobs.
For instance, lets say you want to make the level 16 wizard spell "Pillar of Fire". The spell requires 1 Rune of Proximity and 1 Rune of Nagafen to be combined in a Lexicon.
In order to get those runes, you have to kill monsters which level is 16 to 19. Level 20 mobs drop level 20 research components, so they won't drop level 16 runes.

Now, the rules have slightly changed with the new research recipes in LoY. Now you can make many Kunark, Velious, and Luclin spells without needing to camp for them, but like I said, the rules have changed.
The new research system uses many of the same runes for different spells of different levels.

Example:
Say you want to make the wizard spell Garrison's Superior Sundering (GSS), because it drops only from a few named monsters in Luclin, and you just don't have the friends to complete the task. You can make GSS with the combination of 4 new runes:

Rune of Ellipse: also used in Inferno of Al`Kabor, Plainsight, Retribution of Al`Kabor, Vengence of Al`Kabor. Since Inferno of Al`Kabor is a level 53 spell, you'll likely find it on level 53+ mobs. More specifically, you'd likely find the Rune of Ellipse on mobs level 53, 55, 56, 59 or 60.
Rune of Glint: Also used in Draught of Jiva and Marker's Discord. Since Draught of Jiva is a level 55 spell, you'll likely find the Rune of Glint on mobs level 55+, but more specifically on mobs level 55, 56, or 60.
Rune of Corsucating: Also used in making Sunstrike. Since both GSS and SS are level 60 spells, it's very likely you'll only find this on level 60 mobs.
Rune of Scintillation: This rune is only used for GSS, so you'll only find this on level 60 mobs.
Level dictates what mobs will drop particular research components. Because of this, making lists of where specific research components drop is a waste of time. Instead, make a list of places where the mobs level will usually result in research components for level specific research items. An Example would be:

Najena: Level 16-29 research components
Solusek's Eye: Level 20-34 research components
Nagafen's Lair: Level 34-44 research components
Plane of Hate: Level 49-58 research components
Vex Thal: Level 51-60 research components

It's much easier looking at the level ranges of zones than compiling all the drop information from specific mobs in specific zones.

Unfortuantly not all of your information is correct. For instance when i was a young mage leveling and trying to make spells I found that the research components were dropping off of mobs that were higher level then the spell I wanted to make by a few levels.

Also not all mobs of a given level will drop research components as has been pointed out in another thread. SO listing what mobs in a zone drop components is a good idea.

We also do not know if verant has a generic loot table for all of these mobs or if they made a few and divided them amongst mobs.

To add further to this. It USED to be that any mobs in the old world or Kunark could drop spell components. This is no longer the case. Before the research changes one could have fought for weeks in Growth and never seen research pages, but spells dropped like water. Now spell drops have been dramtically nerfed in Growth, but Research drops have been added. In addition, we have fought Banshee's, Wraith's and all the yard trash mobs for days in PoN, and have not seen one research component off them, but they drop like water off the Nightstalkers. Furthermore, I got only right pages of the 12 or so we get off the Nightstalkers, and I got 7 of one right half without getting any lefts. Someone might call me unlucky, but 12 of 12 right halves seems more than a coincidence to me.

In conclusions, these drops are very zone and mob specific, and just because you got one half of a page doesn't mean you wil see the second half.

In addition, it seems certain pages or halves of pages might also be zone specific.

Thus I agree, it is important to list the mobs and places these research items are dropping off of.
