  • Now that it is a skill...

Does anyone have a guide on a suggested way from 0-200 without a trainer yet?

Has anyone made a big red disclaimer that once you put 1 pt in at 16 you can not raise the skill 1 bit until lvl 19, and all efforts are in vain?

I know not too few Wizards who spent a day or more gathering ingredients for those extremely tedious research quests... only to not gain any skill, and find out later why.

If you are an enchanter, 0-200 is PIE!

Faded Page, alone in the Tome of Endless Enchanments = Skillups.

    Its like Slicing Cake!

(Edited to add that the trivial is based on What the page ACTUALLY is. If it is a page used for a level 16 spell, then Un-fading the page has the same trivial as combining the spell. So Unfading a Salil's Writ Page has a higher trivial then a Tasarin's Grimore)

as far s I know you cant go past low to mid 180s without a trainer. Save for makeing the new spells from 182/184 to 200.

This is mostly true, Lilosh. But, the faded page for Feedback (level 29) is significantly higher than combining the two unfaded pages. I finally managed to unfade the faded page and combine it with the other half when I was around 39-ish. My success was the second attempt at combining the unfaded pages, too. *blush* I cheered and cheered when I had unfaded the first one, and then failed the trivial combine to produce the spell

          Regarding a guide:

The Concordance of Research quest can allow any of the four research classes to create Practice Runes from various items (not spell components.) The quest for good alignment characters is here: Research Aid (Allakhazam), the quest for evil alignment characters is here: Evil Research (Allakhazam). Esentially, give lightstones to the NPCs to get copies of the Research Tomes I & II, and a Greater Lightstone to get the Concordance of Research, a six slot book/container used to make Practice runes only. Once made, each pair of Practice Runes must be combined in your regular/advanced research tome. By the way, the Concordance sells for 11p at vendors, it's a nice little money maker if you can get your hands on a few Greater Lightstones

The guide for creating these Practice Runes once you have obtained the Concordance of Research is posted here on the EQTC site.

Regarding the disclaimer about level 16, etc:

It's been posted in the forum but you have a point, I'll let Denmum know we need to put it on the Spell Research intro page, and will include it and the above information in the FAQ.

My alt is a lev 35 mage, currently with research skill of 92, she is capped for her level at 100.
She has not put a Single Point into research with the trainer, done only practice runes.

I dont know about other servers, but on fennin ro, I found Oasis gypsy vendors a GREAT source of rawhide items, for the practice runes, and merchant mining in Felwithe and Kelethin a way to get pixie wings, faerie wings, bat furs, etc.

I am saving points, but am willing to farm for components to do the runes. It isnt much different than farming for other tradeskills
