Old World Vendors

I've been searching for a possible vendor from the old world and was curious if anyone knows of any vendor out there that sells the standard research components?

I'm attempting to play in a "classic" environment, but obviously research is completely changed now. I'd still like to level it, but didn't want to be forced to use the newer zones / merchants.

I feel like (if memory serves). The quest began in The kananras and involved a wisp light stone you turned in.. got first book or first container

And you could research up to like 30 by buying runes directly from the vendor or at least pieces.

I hate the allaz removed all the old style research information. As I have bags and bags of it still and am using it to make spells the old way .

I believe it is possible to still skill research by combining practice runes, Azia and Beza, which come in several levels. The recollection above is accurate for "good" races and classes. Turn in a Greater Lightstone to Myrsila in North Karana to get the Concordance of Research. In this container are combined the various components for the practice runes. Skill is gained by combining runes Azia and Beza in a regular research kit. In old times these were purchased in home towns. The resulting "complete" runes had no further research value, but could be sold to merchants to recover some of the cost.
