  • Make Port Spells Researchable?

To round out my menagerie of toons I've recently begun playing my Druid a bit more. I've been zipping through the level nicely with the help of my 85 Paladin, making spells via my 85 Enchanter and generally dying, rooting myself and having a rip-roaring time.

Having played two non-port toons I have grown accustomed to running, taking PoK books and using the guild hall port system so I didn't take the time to get many of the port spells (or is some cases so the quests). As a master researcher I was wondering why the port spells are not researchable. Yes, I know they are easily bought but it would be nice to have them all (or at least some of them researchable).

Since there are a plethora of ports, the easiest way would be to make the four versions (wiz and druid, ring and circle) fairly generic and make specifying item either a zone specific forage or use the guild hall shard for that zone.

    Thoughts?

I am uncertain of a need for Researchable port spells for the Wizard at least, as it would take me roughly as long to run to Erudin and buy all the initial port spells as it would take me to Research them. With those I could port to North Karana to buy the Kunark port spells faster than I could make them. Velious port spells are dropped, so there might be some argument for Researching those, but to this point, very few of the dropped spells have been Researchable, so there is also precedent not to make them Researchable. Subsequent expansions again have the port spells concentrated on one vendor who is not overly difficult to get at. I do not really see the need to go to the trouble of creating unique recipes and adding them to the existing database for spells that can be obtained in a few minutes.

I cannot give any opinion on the location of druid port spells, since I only level my druid once per year, as I do not wish to put more time into him than I believe the class is worth. As such, I am uncertain where a lot of the initial druid port spells are bought, although I have a feeling they are in Abysmal Sea with the rest of the pre Gates port spells.
