  • Hybrid Research - What can we research?

I looked, there is spotty info here and not much is consilidated. What can a Hybrid research, namely a priest hybrid? Can I only research my own class? Can I research all Priest Spells, ie shaman, druid, cleric, etc?

I can not seem to find this information.

(Someone that can confirm or correct please feel free to do so)

    (INT) Casters

    Enchanter
    Magician
    Necromancer
    Wizard

    Priests

    Cleric
    Druid
    Shaman

    Hybrids

    Bard
    Beastlord
    Paladin
    Ranger
    Shadow Knight

    Melee

    Berserker
    Monk
    Rogue
    Warrior

A hybrid is a hybrid and a priest is a priest. There is no such thing (in EQ) as a hybrid-priest.

Casters can make any spell or song.

    Melee can make any tome.

Priests can only make priest spells.

Hybrids can only make hybrid spells and tomes.

Bards can make any song, hybrid spell or tome.

I would assume he means he is a Paladin, Beast Lord, or Ranger, the three classes that share Wis based spells with a Priest class.

You covered it completely though. A hybrid can make any Paladin, Beast Lord, Ranger or Shadow Knight spell or tome. Unless he is a Bard, he cannot make songs as a hybrid, and I am uncertain whether he can make a Bard tome as a non Bard hybrid, but suspect he can.

Yes Hybrids that are priest classes as casters. I was not sure if research allowed us to cross create spells to the actual casting genre.

In your original post, you started off as a priest hybrid. Now you're a hybrid priest caster? Are you sure you're not a meleeing hybrid priest caster?

Your spinning words to make some pointless point, you knew what I meant, why post to just post dribble.

But just to appease you, a Ranger is also a caster, basing its casting skills on the Priest line, hence the description Hybrid / Priest. Which was the jist of my question, as a Hybrid, that can cast spells, in the Priest line, could I also make other Priest line spells such as those from the Shaman line. The answer is no, the jibs and jabs from you guys apparently come as free fodder for those answers.

I just have to get into this.

Technically, hybrids are Melee / Casters.

Originally, each of the hybrid classes were said to have parent classes, so Rangers were hybrids of Warriors and Druids. Paladins were hybrids of Warriors and Clerics. Beastlords were hybrids of Monk and Shaman. Shadowknights were hybrids of Warriors and Necromancers. Bards were kind of a fuzzy hybrid of Warriors, Rogues and enchanters, with a possible smidgen of Shaman thrown in for good measure.

The problem with the parent class concept is that while hybrids did share some abilities with their parent classes, they had abilities that were uniquely their own that neither parent class had. So SOE declared hybrids classes in their own right and stated the concept of parent classes was null and void.

But to answer your question. You, as a Paladin, can only make hybrid spells (not songs) and tomes. As an example, you would be able to make the Ranger and Beastlord versions of Pack Shrew because they are hybrid spells and you are a hybrid. You would not be able to make the Shaman or Druid version of Pack Shrew because they are Priest spells and you are not a priest.

                You should be ...

Amend "you would be able to make the Ranger and Beastlord versions of Pack Shrew because they are hybrid spells" to "you should be ..."

There are many spells that did not get flagged properly to be made by non-int casters. If you find a spell/tome for your type (hybrid, priest, melee, bard) that does not combine in your type-specific container, do not assume you are getting bad information here. Instead, /bug the recipe in game so that Ngreth can fix it.
