  • melee research AAs

I'm funding a guildmate's research on her rogue as well as giving her tips on what recipes to do next, and she's told me that she doesn't see any research AAs on the rogue's AA tabs besides Salvage. =/ She doesn't have SoD expansion, would this prevent her from seeing the skillcap increasing AAs and the Mastery AAs? Or do pure melee not get them at all. =/

    Thanks for any help!

There are no AAs for Research outside enchanters, magicians, necromancers, and wizards.

Its just as well since the trivials seem to be set by working backward from the desired success rate on those recipes then accounting for the AAs, trophy, and max skill to decide where the trivial should be set to result in a particular success rate.

With no AAs, the trivials for tomes are set lower than equivalent spells of the same level to result in similar success rates. By that logic, its like melee get the AAs for free. Unfortunately, the lack of AAs also hurt the success rates of the non pure casters making their own spells that have trivials already set higher to account for the classes that get the AAs and can make those same spells.

I don't think the trivials are adjusted by container type being used (although I haven't actually confirmed this since I only do research with a pure caster class and a pure melee class) so max'd hybrids and priests will actually have worse success rates with spells on a combine for combine basis against a max'd caster.

Not necessarily intended but at least accepted. Its still better than no chance at all.

      Well, actually ...

Priests, Bards and Hybrids have research AAs to raise thier cap from 200 to 300. Be happy, melees, that you can get to 300 without spending AAs (20 for bards, 30 for priests and 40 for hybrids).

Somewhere around here, Ngreth stated that only the finger-wagglers would get the AAs to improve their combine chances. For that reason the difficulty level on tomes is less than that of the same level spell.

Also, the various groups have diffeing success rates. Melees and Casters have the better chances. I don't remember the rest; you'll have to find the original post if you want.
