Why do hybrids have to spend so many AAs?

I'm already a 300 researcher, I took my rogue to 270 before running out of combines then I decided to start hybrid research on my ranger, it seems as a hybrid research maxes at 200 then you must spend AAs, I have no problem spending 3 AAs like we normaly do to take a skill past 200 but 4 AAs every 10% is way to much. Other then having all skills maxed i really don't see a practical need for hybrid research, can't my melee make my tomes and can't I make all spells?

Yes, your melee can make all tomes and your caster all spells.

But then the folks who only play a hybrid would have grounds to complain that they can't do their own.

Is the price a little steep in AAs? Maybe, maybe not. Depends on who you talk to. Obviously, those who play hybrids think any price would be too steep, and those who don't have no basis for comparison.
