I hate to say the "it sounds like bad luck" routine again, but my numbers are no where near as low. That said, I'll still wait and see what the upcoming changes bring.

(and there is a large difference between 200 and 300 mobs. If you want notes and statistics, run logs and collect the data and count the loot. Also, one tenth of one percent would be one drop in one thousand caster kills, you have 700-800 more kills to go.)

yeah. realistically if you had 2-300 actual caster mobs, on average you should have gotten 20-30 drops. It is a 10% drop. If it was 2-300 "normally distributed mobs" not JUST "caster mobs" then yes... expect 2-5 or so in that amount of time, as of the 2-300 only 20 to 50 or so would be casters.

I plowed through Skyshrine...from the entrance to the globe room with the golems and I killed everything that moved, breathed or looked at me funny.

There were a TON of clerics, necros, mages, wizards...not to mention SK mobs...but I don't think they count as casters?

I'm beginning to think that the loot distribution tables are skewed towards certain zones. Whereas with the old system...runes, words, etc could be dropped anywhere in the world...the variable was the mob level.

With parchments/papyrus/hides etc it seems that some zones drop these items more than others.

But then...I've only been playing a week and have only plowed a few zones so what do I know : )

Ngreth, I really do appreciate you addressing mine (and other players) questions regarding tradeskills in general.

          Nope.

This loot is more democratic than the old runes words pages... those had to be individually placed on each NPC that has it.

Now there is a table that says "If you are a caster, and you are this level... you have a 10% chance to drop this" and is not specific to any NPC or zone... it covers all zones.

And you are correct that SK is not included.

I have made some plans for the future that will basically double the drop rate, but they will not be in for a few months.

            ink additives

Can ink additives be increased as well. 50 would be great.

              Bazaar buying

When DoDh came out, my Spell Researcher was in the lead in making spells. There was no problem finding enough parchment to skill.

However, now there are way too many competitiors. I'm going to have to drop a few spell lines. Unless, that is, I take the advice I'm going to offer here.

There are 7 buyers on my server looking for various parchments. That very likely thins the amount out there on sellers. If I want to compete, I'll need to set up my own biuyer, offering more cash.

                Competition

On my server there are alot 68 and lower level seller mostly 65 and below. I tend to stick with 69/70 myself not much competition but sure in time there will be just gotta see what sells best and what can make decent profit. I sell 69/70 spells and instructions. Cant wait to make new spells and drop some of the old ones.

                  I would hug you...but since you're a stinky ogre, you'd probably eat me =/

Thanks for the heads up though!

Often you will unfortunately find warriors that cast spells. This is almost always true of raid mobs, but it does happen for basepop as well.
Yes, and that warrior is casting SoW and haste on itself when it spawns. Then when you fight it, it uses harm touch. The mobs get all the L33T HAXX0R's.
