  • I'm Stumped.

I am just returning to the game, and trying to get my research skill up. It's at 133. I had no idea research had changed until I tried to make a known spell because i had the stuff in my bank and it wouldn't combine. So I asked in guild and they said there was a huge research change (which they didn't bother to learn because they said it was confusing) and I should look it up, and so I have, unfortunately, I find it all very confusing as well.

I went and bought the books, 1 through 7, and the other 3 books, i read them and still don't understand.

I went out in CR and killed a couple things till I got a Rough Stiff Hide. I then bought a Stiff Hide Solution and turned it into just a Stiff Hide, and that's pretty much where I am now, seeing as EQTC shows that it's not used in any crafted items. The second step was to clean it, so I put the Stiff Hide, Stiff Hide Solution, and Celestial Solvent in the Spell Research Kit and it wouldn't combine.. I have no clue what I am doing. I have read some posts but most the stuff isn't in EQTC database (yet) it seems.

    Any help?

Sticky at top of this forum

"spoilerish info for TSS" gives the hides, papyrus, spell scrolls, parchment, vellum, papers and their respective levels 2-75. There are lots of hides that have no use, because the spells for that level do not need to be crafted (IE vendor).

Why are they marked in-game as "This item can be used in tradeskill" then? Just curious (not to sound mean or to question you). I have a Crude Hide, Cleaned Crude Hide, and a Prepaired Crude Hide that all say they can be used in tradeskill. Just not discovered yet? Or can you confirm they are used for nothing?

Nvm, I see now. Thank you. That sticky didn't make sense to me the first two times I read it.
