Old Spell Components

I've been playing a cleric lately. Just started playing my enchanter a bit more since finally outsmarting the SoE character transfer service

(can anyone tell me why, or give me any sort of reasonable sounding speculation as to why SOE keeps the old character move page live AND keeps the script on that old page live that emails you to tell you that the move can take up to three weeks, thereby "confirming" that your request is in the system? I am not ticked off about it... any more ... it just seems counterproductive)/aside

and have now found out that my many bags filled with research supplies are essentially worthless now.

Seems to me I read in a patch message somewhere along the way that there had been a change of some sort in trade skills, but since I was off TS at that time, I did not pursue the info exhaustively. Seems, further, as if there was some mention of an npc, or maybe more than one NPC, that would trade you new TS items for your older, outmoded TS items.

Is that true? Any details, if so? Or do I just throw all those runes/words/pages etc. at a vendor for a few plat after determining what is useful for ribbons, etc? Like I am going to spend one or more full nights going back and forth between eqtraders.com and 2 instances of EQ to research every item that 3 INT casters and an assortment of traders/mules have stashed away for the day I started researching again...

But seriously, was there such an NPC? Is there one that will swap my old and mostly useless reasearch items for new ones now?

The NPC Caerlyna in the Bazaar will trade old cultural swatches or blocks of ore (ie: any stuff that was combined prior to the cultural changes, using old components such as MDS, Shissar Scales, etc), for new cultural components.

There was never any trade-in for research components.

Look at "Don't sell it all to the vendors" for a list of most components still worth keeping for LoY swatches, etc (though not sure how complete the list is)

LOL, good catch. I first saw it at a midnight show before it was a group participation forum, so yes and no. The soundtrack is still on my iTunes/iPod, but that was an awfully long time ago.

Shissar Scales trade to Caerlyna?

After reading the posts below, I attempted to trade Shissar Scales to Caerlyna.

Caerlyna says, "I have no need for this, Tutukane. You can have it back."
Caerlyna says, "I can only hold bags for you, there is nothing for me to do with this."

Is there an updated way to exchange outdated TS items, or is it now just vendor fodder?

as stated above there is no vendor to trade in old TS supplies that arent used anymore. Caerlyna or whatever only trades you for finished products not the supplies themselves.
