Are you able to craft 71+ spells?

I just got into spell research recently.. Was very suprised to not find any 71+ spells. (Am lvl 66 now)

So pretty much, spell research works from 1-70, but doesn't exist from 71-80?

I know in everquest2 you could craft rank2 spells using rare components, and rank1 spells using common components. Thought that was a good system actually. (Raid drops rank 3)

you can make lvls 1-70 spells minus quest spells such as DoDh and PoR spells. there may be other quest spells im not aware of.

Welcome to research, good luck. There has been a long trend of research on spells not being available for 3 or more expansions. Patients grasshopper.

So pretty much, yes, only level 1-70 spells. You cannot research quest, ancient, Rank 2 or Rank 3 spells. As always, I'll add, "yet". Correct, players cannot currently make level 71 to 80 spells.

Well, this is Everquest (no 2, it's non WoW or any of the other games either). Spell components have a chance of droping off certain caster mobs and the spell component level dropped is deteremined by the level of the mob. I'm glad you liked the EQ2 system, I am sure the developers have tailored it appropriately for that game, we only have the system we have.

that is correct there are only 2 spells post 70 that are researchable and those are the new spellcaster essences.
