Questions regarding research drops

I have just returned from a long layoff and have started playing again. I have been running a 3-box team of a necro, a shaman, and a mage. The necro was my main at 67th. He is gear to PoP level mostly pre-elemental planes. I have all my spells from 65 down save the GoD ones. The Shaman and Mage are 59th with store bought spells mostly. I play this group on the Test server which presents a unique set of problems.

Test server has virtually no bazaar. At any given time there are a dozen shaman spells for sale and same for the mage. I therefore must rely on spell research or spell drops to fill in their spell books. My trouble has been getting consistent spell research comps. I found a few running a couple LDoN but none pulling spiders and lizards in Steppes.

So my question is what drops research comps? Caster only MOBs? Any Humanoid?

Spell-casting NPCs of the right level have a chance to drop the "parchments" and similar for 51+ spells - I believe they do not have to be humanoids but do have to actually "cast" spells rather than having proc-type effects that mimic casting.

They have to be one of the 7 actual non hybrid spell casting classes, whether they cast spells or not Some NPC's in the game that cast spells are warriors :/

So Wizard, Enchanter, Necromancer, Mage, Druid, Shaman or Cleric.
